How long would you be out of work if you had a Laporascopotomy(sp) and your appendix removed? How long before your body starts to feel normal again?

depends on what type of work you do
is it sedentary with no lifting
the more physical the job the longer the recovery time

I had a laproscopy to have my gall bladder removed. I was discharged from the hospital Sunday afternoon. I would have been back to work on Wednesday if my mother hadn't broken both of her wrists Monday night in a fall.

It depends on what type of job you have. I had a desk job. By Wednesday I would have felt completely able to do my work, even if it would have still been hard to get around. I just would have taken my time. :) I felt excellent after my surgery, I just hurt from where the incisions were made. That passed quickly because I don't even remember what it felt like anymore, just that the first couple of days it hurt. :)

It really depends on what kind of shape you are in. There is also the problem of the location of the appendix. I had mine out 3 yrs ago and my appendix was tucked behind my intestines so there was a bit of manipulating and I was told that was why it took me longer to recover. I went back to work 15 days after my appendectomy.:D

Thank you for your replies. Saffron and luv2nascar I wish I had a sit down job. I am on my feet all day and lift a lot of heavy things. I work in retail. I also help unload some trucks(small store).
missymouse3367 I do not think there were any complications. I do not think there was actually anything wrong with my appendics They just took it out to be on the safe side. I actually had a cyst on my ovary that burst . I tried telling them it was not my appendics.
What worries me is that one of my incissions has a really big bruise around it and it still hurts. I guess I will have to wait until Tuesday to find out why.
Jasonlyons you always make me laugh. I'm afraid I have already slept through a weeks worth of lunches.

Yikes! On top of all the pain, the ruptured cyst will make you pretty sick. :( I'm sorry to hear you're going through all of that!

Since you have a job that requires lifting and being on your feet, unfortunately your recovery time will be a lot more than mine was. :)

About the pain in your abdomen -- I had surgery in the middle of this past December and I just checked, LOL!, and I'm still a little sore. I feel fantastic and I can do anything I want, but my abdomen still feels sore. If you just had surgery last week, and the ruptured cyst on top of the surgery, I would expect that you would still feel sore and continue to feel sore for a little while longer.

I wish you a speedy recovery! Take things slow and do what the doctor tells you and you should be back on your feet in no time! :)
