hello!

If I wanted to go to one of the MK area resorts for dinner on my MK park day and then return to the park afterwards how much time should I allow?

I know that the length of the meal will dictate how long I'm there but how long would it take me between the park and the Poly? The Grand Floridian?

Many thanks!

I would plan about 2 hours for it. Figure the meal will be about an hour or so and then add in travel time to the resort and back.

You can walk to Contemporary (CA Grill & The Wave) in less time than it would likely take to Monorail to Contemporary/Polynesian/GrandFloridian....and then back to Magic Kingdom.

If you are unfamiliar - Contemporary is the only (Monorail) resort that can be accessed by walking to/from Magic Kingdom.

I would budget 40-60 minutes round-trip on Monorail; 20 minutes total for round-trip if walking to/from Contemporary.

Budgeting time for the meal is obviously dependent, in part, on how many courses of food you order. Another variable is the likelihood of having to wait to be seated. The Wave is likely quicker in this regard versus CA Grill. You can ameliorate this time lag by being amongst the first to be seated by making an ADR for about the time the restaurant opens.

If you prefer, Grand Floridian has enough shops to absorb any excess time you may have (and a live jazz band may be playing too). Polynesian is certainly more lovely since their recent lobby remodeling, but less shops than Grand Floridian.

And one more curve-ball, there are boats that can take you from Magic Kingdom to some of these resorts and Wilderness Lodge. I'd budget at least 60 minutes (round-trip) if taking boats.
