How long will incentives last?

Hi Everyone. I know there's no way to predict certain things, but just wondering your opinions. We currently have 400 AKL points, and are looking to add on approx 150. To be honest we're torn between a couple different options-- adding on via Disney with AKL or BLT or adding on resale with BWV. A lot of things to consider. Anyway, wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to how long they thought the current offers would last or if they think the next offers will be a better deal (or worse). Thanks in advance for any insight, or plain old opinions.

I think right now you are hitting about the best they are going to offer. How long is an unknown. There are generally always some incentives but there is no usual pattern as to how long any particular incentives will last. Could be months, could be a year. Usually they will tell you beforehand when incentives will end without telling you what the new ones might be.

I was wondering the same thing. We want to add on at VGC before the current incentives are gone, but I was hoping to do it on our cruise in September where they may throw in an additional onboard credit or something. Any rumors when they may end? :confused3 How much time before they usually announce that they're ending?

It's like those old "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?"...the world may never know. :rotfl:

Seriously, it's hard to imagine better deals than are being offered right now, especially if the economy improves in the next 12 months. But you never know. I haven't heard anything about when the current incentives might expire, either.

I'm usually with you as far as waiting for things, especially with a cruise coming up. I always hear about great incentives available only on cruises.

However, having said that, I was SHOCKED at how good the incentives are at GCV. I had been considering buying into DVC just to get 1st crack @ GCV, but just couldn't afford it. Then we wanted to buy right when it went on sale, couldn't do it then either. Then I decided to begin the process "just in case" the new incentives weren't as good as the old ones.

When my guide told me the price @ GCV I literally bought on the spot!
IMO, I don't see how they could top the current incentive for GCV, it is truly the best I've seen. If it were me, I would buy GCV with the current incentive. Perhaps this incentive will still be available during your cruise, and you will get a little something extra, which would be great. But if you hear of this current incentive ending before then, I would suggest buying GCV before it ends.

It always makes me sick to think, if I miss something I was debating, WHY didnt I just buy it?? On the other hand, if there is a better deal on the ship, you would be thinking..WHY didn't I wait :rotfl2:

Bottom line, buy GCV with this incentive, but hold off if you can to see if it runs while you're on the ship.

They do usually at least give some indication that the incentives will be going away. The rumor that the incentives were changing June 15th was out at least for a few weeks prior. My guide knew I was going to do an add on when I went down for my August trip and called me the 3rd week in May to tell me that he had been told that the BLT incentives would be changing the 15th of June, in case I wanted to start the process early.

I would call your guide and tell him/her that you are still thinking about things and to call you if he hears that things will be going away. You can always then start the contract and if it doesn't close before your trip, and the cruise incentives are better, have the contract re-written.

I ended up buying the first week of June. I did need to delay my final payment since I wouldn't have all the money until August (when I close on the sale of my VWL contract). My guide was able to get it set up so they won't charge my CC until July 5th (which misses the statement date and thus, I won't have to pay until August), which of course, has delayed the closing of the contract. If I wanted to make a change, I still could!

Good luck!

We are thinking about purchasing 180 pts. at BLT with the $11/pt. member referal incentive. Our guide said the incentive ends this weekend; however, I do not know if that is just an attempt to get us to lock in. My impression is that, with the way the economy is going (especially with yesterdays unemployement info.), the incentives may be around for a while.
