How long until I can book Vero?

I hope someone might have the inside scoop on this.

Although a DVC member, I want to rent (via CRO) a beach cottage at Vero Beach in early January 2006. I have called CRO several times since 1/1/05 and they show "no avalibility", a supervisier told my agent that it was too early and that I shoud call back like in June

I'm wondering if anyone know when a 'member of the public' can make a ressie at Vero? thoughts? Thanks!

I don't think DVC releases rooms to CRO until closer to the arrival date, definitely not a year ahead. I don't think there is a set date, it depends on how many Vero members trade out their points, making points rooms available to the public. I would think beach cottages would be booked by members and not many released to CRO.

If you don't already have a back up plan, it would be a good idea to put one in place.

There are only 6 Beach Cottages (not even sure if all have re opened since the hurricane) and they are very popular with DVC members. It is quite rare to see one available for cash. When they are, it is probably 60 days or less from arrival.

Sometimes you can get one for a Friday or Saturday night - the points are very high for those nights and DVC members often reserve just the weekenights to avoid the higher points.

That's weird. We have reservations at Vero for May. I just called last week and had no problems. And we're not DVC members.

I have booked cash nights at VB in May for January arrival thru MS. I'd guess that the rooms are relaeased to MS before they are released to CRO. Book thru MS or directly with the VB main number (772-234-2000) and you might have better luck.

The first priority for MS is to reserve DVC accommodations using points. If they know from past history that a certain room type will NOT be needed for point reservations, it can be released for cash reservations - sometimes with the member discount. Since VB owners cannot even make reservations now at their home resort for January 2006, it would hardly be fair to allow cash reservations at this time. Often, rooms are not released for cash even to DVC until inside the 7 month priority. Any rooms unreserved using points 60 days in avance are released to CRO for cash booking.

As a DVC member, I'd call MS in a couple of months- just to see if DVC has released the Beach Cottages for cash reservations, but there may be nothing available until June (if at all) as they suggested.

Again, was your cash eservation for a Beach Cottage? The OP is asking about Beach Cottages. I'm not surprised that Inn rooms, studios and/or 1 & 2 bedrooms are available that far ahead for cash, but if you were able to book a Beach Cottage that far ahead, I would be very surprised!
