How long to get to resort from airport

I think we will be arriving around 1pm on Sunday May 15. Realistically, how long would it take for us to get to our resort All Star Sports and then to Epcot. I am trying to decide if we should go to Epcot that day or on Friday when we leave and have the resort hold the luggage

I'm not sure if you're using magical express or not. We did, and were surprised how fast everything went. We got on the ground just about 930. We deboarded, walked to ME, waited about 5 minutes, and were the second bus stop. We got off, went to the room for 20 minutes then got on a bus to DS. We were in DS before 1130. So it was less than 2 hours to touch down and get to DS. I wouldn't plan on it always working that way, but if you land at 1 I would say 3 at the earliest. I'd probably plan on getting there between 4/5 to be safe.

I, personally, would rather go the day we got there than the day we left. But if we had quite a bit more time on departure, I'd probably choose that.

I think you will be looking at 45 minutes or so.

There is no way someone could get from the airport to their hotel to Epcot 45 minutes after the plane lands. Using DME (which I believe I saw on another thread that the OP is using), it should take 70-90 minutes to get from the gate after landing to the hotel. Then check in to the hotel (although this step can be skipped with online check-in), go to the bus stop, wait for the bus, and ride to Epcot. I think a more reasonable time frame is 2 1/2 from landing to entering Epcot.

We have to check out Friday and don't have to be to the conference we are going to until 6pm. Sounds like we would have more park time on Friday and have the resort hold our bags

For us it always took a couple hours to get to resort once the plane landed using DME. We were never the first stop and usually we have to wait about 30 minutes to leave the airport. We don't plan a park day on arrival. It's a good day to check out resort amenities and play at the pool.

I usually plan for about 90 minutes from the time we land to the time we walk into the resort - walk from airport gate to DME bus, wait for bus to load enough people to leave (time for this can vary wildly), 30-40 minute drive to resort, go to room or drop off carry-ons with bell services then head off to Epcot for our first day!

If you are taking DME, it can take anywhere from 70 minutes to about 90 minutes. You may have to wait to check into DME if you are arriving at a busy time and you may have to wait until you get on a bus and you may have to wait once you are on the bus. Then, you may not be the first stop, as the bus makes 3-4 resort stops.

I always plan 2 hours just to be safe.

I missed the "then to Epcot" part of the post. From airport to Epcot, using DME, I would allow 3 hours.

I know we always wait in the ME bus for it to load plus drop people off at other resorts. It usually takes us about 1 1/2 hours from landing to get to the resort but we take a bathroom break when we land. So I would allow a 2 hour span from landing to your resort to be on the safe side but it should take less. From checking in and then getting a bus or monorail to Epcot I would say another hour. So 3 if all goes well.

Hmmm, this post makes me realize my ADR for arrival date is probably too early. We arrive 10 am, have to pick up rental car (in airport), get to offsite hotel (by the Western Entrance), then EPCOT. My current ADR is 1:30 at Akershus, but wondering if I should move it to the next available time (3:10). We're planning on this being our main meal of the day, so not worried that lunch will be so late.

I would - there is always a chance the plane could be late or any number of things

I always allow at least 3 hours from our est. plane arrival to any FP's or ADR's. For an ADR I would probably allow a little longer (the FP window is an hour so that already has some time built in for delays). DME time can vary a lot depending on which resort you're going to (or how many resorts are on the loop) as they won't leave until the bus is pretty full. You never know until you get to the bus line if you just missed a bus and will have to wait for the next one or if you're just in time to catch the one that's already there.

I would allow a couple of hours. We sat on a DME bus for about 45 minutes last week before leaving OIA. We landed at 9:05 a.m., got a drink at the airport, got on a bus, went to the resort, to the check in line and finally got on a bus to MK at around 1 p.m. So that's 4 hours

With DME after you land and find that area.....depends on what the lines look like to even get on a bus. We waited in the corralled area for 1 and a half before even boarding our bus. We were going to All Star Music and that resort bus for DME is grouped together with the other All Stars, so they also do the drop offs and unloadings. I would say plan at the very least 2 and a half hours that way if you come out ahead of schedule...even better!
