How long to get a membership number when buying resale?

What has your experience been with getting your new contract in the system?
I just bought points at the VWL, we closed on the 18th. Since this is titled differently than my AKL points I will have a different member number. I am anxious for this contract to be in the system so that I can book for the end of November next year. Since the resort is so small I want that 11 month window.
I was told to wait 7 days and then call member services. I know that it is not 7 days yet but I noticed some other posters indicating that their points were in the system in only 4 to 5 days. So I called today just to see if this contract is there, but it is not.

Disney should have you in their system between 7 and 10 business days for you to make a reservation on your new points. Give them a call again tomorrow and see if they have set up points in your account. If not, call again in a day or two. You never know when the points will be posted to your account.

I'd call daily. It usually takes about a week after closing to be in the system, but with the Holidays it could take a day or two extra.

I agree, give them a call each afternoon. There might be an additional delay due to the holidays and vacations.

I agree with pp's... call each day. I was told the same thing about taking 7 days. I started calling on day 3 and was already in the system. FYI, here is my timeline....

9/20/09 - Made offer via email
9/21/09 - Rec'd telephone call that offer was accepted
9/22/09 - Rec'd purchase documents & instructions via email
9/23/09 - Faxed signed documents to realtor; FedEx deposit to title company
9/24/09 - Rec'd email from title company that they have deposit
10/17/09 - Rec'd telephone call (Saturday) from Jaki saying we passed ROFR; title company to verify estoppel info; should take about 10 business days
10/30/09 - Rec'd closing documents from title company (10 business days!)
10/30/09 - FedEx'd final payment and signed closing documents to title company
11/11/09 - Rec'd notice from title company that seller is sending signed closing documents
11/17/09 - Rec'd notice from title company that transaction is closed and request forwarded to DVC to transfer deed
11/20/09 - Called Mbr Svcs and we are in the system with all points available. Made reservations for May, 2010! WOOHOO!!
60 days from offer to member - not bad, not bad at all!!
11/30/09 - Received DVC membership card from Disney

Well, I've called every day so far and my new contract is still not showing.
Tomorrow will be the 11 month window for the dates I want to book for next year. The contract closed on 12/18 and I was so hoping that my points would be showing by now.
I'll just keep trying, there are 50 points from 2008 that are banked and have to be used by 11/30/10. I was planning on booking 11/29, 11/30 with the banked points and then 12/1-12/3 with the 2009 and 2010 points.

Call your Broker and verify that they did their job correctly, Call the Escrow Agent and do the same. Then call DVC Contract Administration and ask if they know what's going on.

We did have a delay on one of our contracts where Escrow said that they were waiting on Disney when in reality, Disney told us that they had sent some paper work back to Escrow for correction.

Now why did I not think of doing that??? Thank you for your advice. I called and I spoke to the Broker, they are going to check to be certain everything was submitted.

I just got a call back from the broker and they were able to confirm that they got the title confirmation from Disney on 12/17 @3:30.
So to call the contract administration, do I call the same phone number as member services?

But then I decided to go online to view my existing points and disney had already linked my new membership number with the points to my existing info. It had only been about 6 days. Check the disney vacation club site to see, you never know.

I did check the DVC website but there is nothing there. I am not sure if these contracts will be linked though since this re-sale is only in my name whereas the contract at the AKV is in my name and my 2 children's names.

I decided to call MS one more time, and my new contract is there and all the points are in the system. The woman I spoke to was very nice and patient and I thanked her profusely.

I'm so excited about the possibility of staying at the VWL during the holiday season. I will be on the phone tomorrow at 9:00 am to try and book my dates.
