I have a flight next Sunday at 7:50pm back to Nashville from Orlando, my question is how much time should I allow to return a car to hertz and get to gate? Trying to squeeze as much time out of theme park as I can before It leave.

You want to be at your gate about 45 minutes before flight time, as your plane will probably start boarding around 7:15 or so. Then add time to check bags and get through security (not sure how long it is at MCO if you don't have TSA Pre). Dropping off the car should be quick, especially since Hertz is at the airport. I'd say arrive at the rental drop off by 6:15 pm, or 6 pm if you have to check luggage, a bit earlier if you're not an experienced flyer.

Since you will need to stop en route to get gas, I think you would want to be in your car and driving out of the parking lot by 5:00. Getting thru security at MCO can be a bear.

When dealing with MCO, I suggest walking through the doors at least two hours before your flight. Allow 15 minutes (probably less than 10, but easier to do the math) to return the car, another 15 minutes to stop and get gas, then 30 minutes to drive from WDW.

So, three hours... leave at 4:50.

I'd rather be sitting at the gate for 90 minutes (if everything goes quickly) vs. showing up 2 minutes late.
