We got off the ship yesterday morning. It's been over 24 hours now. Things are still "spinny". When will that stop?

:rotfl:

Sorry, I had to giggle. We got back 2 weeks ago, and this was my worst case ever. It took a full week, MUCH worse in small enclosed areas. For me my bathtub was the worst. I am fine on the ship, but not on land ;)

Normally it takes me 3 to 4 days.

We were once stuck on a ferry from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland for 18 hours due to a bad storm (a trip that would normally take 7 hours). When we finally managed to reach land, we decided to stop for a bite to eat. I went into the stall in the bathroom and fell off the toilet - it was so spinny, I ended up bare bummed on the floor :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Remember, just like it takes a couple of days to get your sea legs, it will take at least that long (and probably longer) to get your land legs back!!

The first few days were the worst, but it probably lasted about a week or so. The shower was bad and the stairwell at work.

The rougher the seas, the longer it takes.

Most recent trip this past October - a week.

WB TA in 2007, even though it was a two week cruise, the seas were so calm there was no "spinny" on land at all.

OMG I have taken that ferry before. It is still a LONG ride at 7 hours. I had no idea one got spinny. We are going on our first cruise soon. What should we expect?

I'm sorry, this just cracked me up!:rotfl2:
I wasn't effected to badly, but poor DS was sick right from the time we got off the ship for a few days. The poor tike got sick all over in our car as we left the port.

I only had that happen once when I forgot to keep taking the Bonine. It lasted a week. Now I just keep taking the Bonine for 3 days after we get off the ship and I am fine.

I agree with the above post... taking bonine after getting home for a few days works great!!

i am so glad you posted! We got off our ship yesterday morning, too and we are still spinny!

It took me a month off and on after our 11-day cruise, but dramamine is a good option. :)

I bought the stuff, but didn't need it while on board. Guess it won't go to waste after all. I'm gonna take some right away! thanks!

yes, it took a week for me, it is not good?

I got straight of the magig and went for a flight, I was worried they might not let me fly if they thought I was drunk, i kept banging into things, it was very embarrisng.

but when I got off our ship the last time...it didn't happen, I don't know what was different, but no rooms moving or floor swaying....I consider myself lucky

Yep, learned this myself after the last cruise. We were on the Tropical Storm Hanna cruise in Sept, with 20-30 foot seas. I took meclizine at least once a day on the cruise and felt fine, but felt horrible after the cruise. I took meclizine a couple more days, and was fine after 3 days. DH felt bad for a week (he didn't take anything on the cruise or after).

yes this happens to me also except on my last cruise. when i got home i kept taking my bonine for 3 days after the cruise.

So to those of you taking Bonine post-cruise, did you take it during your entire cruise as a precaution as well? Or just after. I didn't have any problems with motion sickness on our last cruise, but I felt the motion afterward for a good month.
