I'm going nuts here. Bogart had the tumor removed a week ago on Tuesday. It's now a week and two days later and I still haven't heard whether the tumor is malignant or benign. I really need to know. I've been waiting and worrying and being scared and now I just need to know. What is taking so long!?!?!?!

I'm assuming you have called the vet, right? I think when Cricket's was removed it only took a week, but I had to keep calling to get the results. Basically, they said that they would have called if it had been bad. So, maybe that is good news. How old is Bogart? Cricket has fatty tumors all over her now. They are just small little tumors, so we won't be removing them. Best of luck and let us know what happens.

I haven't talked to the vet since Tuesday when I asked about it. I will get my DH to call, I'm scared to. Bogart is almost 3, he'll be 3 on Feb. 2nd. The tumor was on his left leg right above his foot. The vet removed the entire tumor plus a good bit of skin around the tumor in case it is cancerous. She also did a smear of the tumor after the surgery and said that in her opinion it did not appear to be aggressive, he couldn't see any cell separation, ect. and that there was a good possibility that it is benign. But I just need to know now. I just really need to know.

I saw that in your sig earlier and I was going to wait a few days and PM you to see if you'd heard. I think you should have heard by now unless they are swamped at the lab. My cat had exploratory surgery last year and they did biopsies of the intestine, liver, pancreas, stomach. We had the results in a week. And, like you, I couldn't bear to hear the news myself. I had the vet call my DH with the results (no cancer).
I pray you get good news!!

Sending you hugs while you're waiting. :grouphug:

I had to go through that with one of my cats. I was a nervous wreck waiting for the results.

Hope you receive some good news!!!! :wizard:

Well I just called the vet and they're closed for the day! Who closes at 12:30 during a weekday?!?! What if something happened during that time, you would just have to take your pet to the stinking emergency vet that has the worst reputation and charges twice as much! I'm so upset right now. So upset.

You should have gotten the results by now.
My cat just had a biospy last month and in 3 days my vet called me to say it was NOT cancer! Yeah!
Maybe your vet was going to call only if it was bad news??

I am sorry to hear they are already closed!!! I agree who closes at 12:30?!?!? Is it a private vet office (only one vet?) Maybe there was an emergency. My vet office has 3 different vets there, although I usually request my favorite unless it is a true emergency and she isn't there.

Please continue to update us as soon as you hear something.

Take a deep breath! Hug little Bogart. Do something relaxing...play some music, watch TV, read a book, go shopping.......try to get your mind off of this for a while. Sometimes it's better to get out of the house. Whatever works for you.

More pixie dust coming your way. :wizard: :wizard:

(((HUGS))))-I can't believe they closed that early on a Thursday! Are they open tomorrow? It really should not take that long to get the results! My cat had a tumor on her leg this past July-I brought her to the vet and she too removed the tumor and a large margin of skin/muscle around it to get everything-we got the results in 3 days (it was FVAC (feline vaccine accelerated sarcoma)... the pathology showed the margins were "scant" so there's a chance it MIGHT grow back-but for now she's ok.... (((((HUGS))))) and I'll say a prayer that your pup's tumor is NOT cancer... ((((HUGS))))

I guess one reason that I am so peeved that it has taken so long is that when we went in the first time for the vet to look at the tumor she said, "yes that sure is spooky" and that it "has broken throught the skin", and "is bothering the dog" and had "the potential for being a serious disease". So I freaked out. I broke down in her office two times over the next day's surgery and the day after that when we took him to get his bandage changed.

The emergency vet that we took him to on New Years Day said not to worry too much about it because usually skin tumors aren't anything to worry about on dogs. And since his normal vet told me this I've heard that she has a really bad rep. for having a bad bedside manner. I mean if it was something to just be calm about and patient, and not worry, why tell me all of that stuff that made it sound like he was going to die or something? It feels like torture.

I know it's hard, but try to calm down. Like I said, Cricket has had many tumors for years. Of course, she is older than Bogart. But, I am pretty sure I found a very small fatty tumor on 5 year old Dixie a few days ago. Just give the vet a call in the morning and try to find out something. They really should have called you by now. Let us know when you find out the results.

Melanie

I'll let you guys know. Thanks for all of the support today, it means a lot. I'm going to call first thing in the morning and he is supposed to get his stitches out tomorrow afternoon.

Bless that sweet little puppy! He's adorable!

I'd be calling the vet making a nuisance of myself. I hope all comes back good for him...and you!

Ash, I hope you get good news on Bogart. He is a cutie pie. If you are not comfortable with your current vet--and it sounds like you have just cause--find your baby a new Dr. I'll be sending happy thoughts Bogart's way tomorrow--and for his momma too.

Just wanted to add my wishes for good news. I know how difficult it is to wait. One of our dogs went in last week to have some cysts removed, and we got the biopsy results within two days. This was the third time in the past 5 or 6 years that she's had this done, but the waiting never gets easier. :grouphug: to you and Bogart.

Both of my dogs had tumor surgeries within the last year and I got results back within 4-5 days including weekends as they both had surgery on Friday. My collie had a very large tumor on his left leg/hip that also had some sort of skin disease over top of the tumor, sorry but can't remember the name now. The vet had never seen anything like it and was extremely concerned that it was not a lypoma (fatty tumor). Once he got inside the tumor was much larger and deeper than he had anticipated which was also a concern. He had an incision about 8-10 inces long and had to have a protective sheathing wrapped around the stitches. He had the surgery on Friday and I had the results either the next Tuesday or Wednesday. It's funny, I was so worried about him but kept it in the back of my mind and didn't break down until the vet called me and told be it was all benign, I cried all the way home even though I had good news I had kept all the worry stored up.

I hope your doggy is okay! :grouphug:

Any news, Ashley? I have my fingers crossed you are feeling relieved right now!!!
