How long should I allow to get from MCO to DTD?

I arrive at 5:45pm on SW in Oct. I want to eat dinner somewhere in Downtown Disney. We may or may not check our bags. I will be renting a car also.

Can anyone give me an idea the earliest they think we could make it there?

7:30? Too early?
8:00?

Our flight (Delta) landed around 6 pm and we took DME to POFQ. We checked in by 7ish and took the boat to DTD. I would say 8 is safe. We didn't have to wait at the luggage carousel and picked up our rental car at the Dolphin the next day.

Thank you. I just wanted someone's opinion who might have arrived the same time. :thumbsup2

IF you DO have to get your luggage and get the car at MCO, it's going to take awhile to get your bags and get to the rental car, look it over, etc etc.
The drive itself from the Airport to WDW isn't terribly long--a bit over 1/2 hour maybe??
With no traffic problems, of course.
And then you need to find a parking spot at DD that is somewhat near the restaurant you chose.

Here's our typical senario:

We fly SW, usually landing around 2:00pm. It usually takes about 10 -15 minutes for a quick bathroom break and to get to baggage claim.

Bags typically come out up to 15 minutes later (sometimes they come out right after we get there). But, one time we waited well over 30 minutes for our bags (that was 45 minutes after landing).

We rent from National, emerald isle, so we gather bags and go right out to lot, pick car, pack up, and drive away. Takes about 10 minutes to get from baggage claim to on the road.

Drive is pretty much 30 minutes.

So, about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours is about right from landing to DTD. Parking and walking to restaurant is about 5-10 minutes (depending on how rushed you are).

So, if you land at 5:45pm, I'd say you could easily be at a restaurant by 7:30pm. If you'll "stress out" if you're running late, make it 8:00pm.

Generally speaking, it takes us about an hour to an hour fifteen minutes (from the time we disembark the plane) to get from MCO to SSR.

Luggage is usually the deciding factor.

We rent from Alamo & I always do on-line check in so no counter time.

I always fly Southwest, and I generally rent from Alamo, sometimes National.

Depending on where I sit on the plane (farther back takes longer to get off), it generally takes me about 50-60 minutes to get to Downtown Disney from the time the plane pulls up to the gate and the doors open.

I have rented from Thrifty in the past, before they were on-site at MCO, and that added an extra 20-30 minutes to the trip, since I had to wait for the Thrifty shuttle bus to arrive, load up, and drive me to the Thrifty facility. Thrifty is now on-site at MCO, but there are some other rental off-site companies that will take about the same amount of extra time.

Thank you everyone! I planned it right then. Yeah! One less thing to worry about. :cool1:
