How Long of a Wait is NEMO Worth?

Last year when we went, Nemo had only been open for several weeks. The lines were always 2+ hours and thinking to myself that it is a fairly boring ride (even my 2 year old at the time loved to ride things like POTC and Matterhorn, so Nemo was obviously tame in comparison), I told the kids we weren't going to bother with it. They seemed to agree wholeheartedly, so it worked out fine.

We're going to DLR at the end of September, and I'm thinking that the line for Nemo will likely be shorter than the last time we visited. In your opinion(s), how long of a wait is Nemo worth? And at what point does it become not worth it?

I'm thinking that anything longer than half an hour is really too long to make this ride worth it. We'll only be in the parks for 2 days this trip, so I don't want to waste needless time on something that isn't that great. (I'm familiar with the ride because I rode it as a child when it was the submarine ride. I don't actually care about riding it, I'm just trying to figure out if I should bother to make time for it so the kids can ride?)

Opinions? Suggestions? THANKS!

Same here - 1/2 hour is a decent wait, and MAYBE 45 minutes if it was the last ride & I wasn't going to do anything else.

My daughter & I rode it a couple of weeks ago & both thought it was really cute. I'd go on it again.

Somebody recently posted a thread asking if anybody actually liked Nemo, and seemed like a large percentage, myself included, replied that it's a cute ride and we liked it, but the long wait and the fuss of the morning Nemo stampede is not worth it.

Because it is a slow, interval-type loader, it still has very long lines most of the time. It is still the focus of a large number of people's morning rush at the gates. Whole crowds of people line up very early and literally DASH (in spite of CMs calling out the whole way, "Please don't run!") to get to Nemo and be on one of the first subs. If you don't get there within 5 minutes, you might have 45 mins to an hour's wait.

If you only have 2 days at the park, I wouldn't waste that precious early morning ride time on it. The most I would try for would be to jump in line just before park closing. Or, just be sure and keep an eye on it whenever you're nearby, and if it's saying a wait time of 30-40 minutes, to jump in.

thanks for the feedback everybody! i will stick to a half hour limit then. (personally, i'm really not going to care if we miss it).

Just an fyi, if you don't want to wait in the long line just ask the CM at the front where you can go for the "viewing room". It's handicap accessible but anyone can view from there. :) I've never used it myself, we were able to ride Nemo a lot on our January trip, due to the pouring rain (that gave me pnuemonia the following week) we were able to walk right on more than once! :)

I to also for for aprox. 30-40 min max. I to was there last year when it opened with waits 2+ hr. wait. We were there there last week and still an hr + wait and said no way. We happened to check one night before leaving aprox. 11pm you could till there was hardly no wait the CM said aprox. 40 min we got in line and by 11:30 were on the ride. It is aprox 10 min. ride, it was cute I did enjoy it but if I would have waited 2+ hrs would have prob. been disapointed. I did however wait 50 minutes for Toy Story Mania and would do that again if had to that was excellent but fyi there is a single rider on that and rode that in single rider line 2 times in a half hour.

We were there in August, and waited about 40 minutes. For me, that was just about pushing it. After going on it I can say it was o.k. and I would probably ride it again, but I certainly wouldn't wait more that 30-40 minutes.

I would agree with the 30 min. wait limit, but it's one apparently my kids don't care to go on anymore. We've done the mad dash to it 3x and on this past trip both my daughters said they didn't want to do it.

It's cute to see once, but I'm not sure it's one that has to be done more than that.

my dh says we wont wait longer the 20mins maybe 30 but we have decied it isnt a must do so if we cant ride it its ok

we were at disneyland once in April, May and June (were Ap holders) and each time we checked nemo it was anywhere from 45 min to 2 hours. this time we went this past Wed and the park was not very busy it was only a 30 min wait. the park wasn't busy in April when we went too but the wait for nemo was always long. We tried out nemo, and it was a fun ride. my 19 month old LOVED it she kept going oooohhh wow through the whole ride. my 9 month old loved the little port hole windows at first but then fell asleep through the last half of the ride. The Cm said the ride is 15 min. I thought it was a cute ride and would go on it for the kids, but wouldn't wait longer then 30 min for it.

Again, if you don't want to wait ask the CM for the viewing room. It's the same thing you see in the ride you're just not in a sub. :)

After waiting in line for 1 hour, I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed in the ride. Maybe I just expected too much.

I think I would not wait longer than 20 minutes. I liked the original subs a lot better!

We went in December before schools got out for the Holiday and it was still a 45 minute plus wait. We skipped and figured that we could spend our time better and maybe our next trip the wait wont be so darn long. I just dont understand why they cant put a fast pass in.

Another vote for 30 minutes. I know it is still very popular and the wait is typically longer than that, but it really is not worth an hour of wait time. Of course, if you aren't doing anything else and have time to kill, I might wait 45 min. But no more. Good luck and have a great trip.:)

If you haven't seen it before.....or you have family that loves the ride.....then there is no line that isn't too long.....otherwise.....a 30 minutes wait is the MAX I would wait for the ride. It's good enough to see once.....but IMHO not worth a long wait.

At DLR (unlike WDW) getting to the park at rope drop (or an hour earlier on MM days) allows one to get SO much done....and the ability to ride slow loading rides SO much quicker. Rides like PP, Matterhorn, Dumbo, Alice, Teacups & Toadie.....which could take 30 - 45 min. PER RIDE at other times of day.... can ALL be ridden during this wonderful part of the day. Then after a short rest....off to the left side of the park for FPs collection & Pirates/HM/BTMRR etc. ride enjoyment with no waiting....

What does this have to do with Nemo? I would wait 45 min. for Nemo (if family members REALLY wanted to ride it) but only with a corny dog & coke in hand....in the afternoon or evening when a nice 30 - 45 min. break or rest is in order (because I've already toured/ridden 15-20 rides & have 4 FPs in my pocket).

But I will never (again) give up the minimum 35 - 60 min. it takes for this ride during the first 2-3 hours of the Park or MM opening. Even if i have 2- 3 MMs to enjoy. :3dglasses

We went on Nemo first thing on a non early morning and got on in less than 30 minutes. We were not first at the gate. We only went on it that one time but it was worth seeing once. Like others said, I wouldn't go on it again unless it was around 30 min.

This was my favorite scene. I lowered the resolution for the web, but her diving suit says "Friend of the Reef". :rotfl:
