Okay, so hubby and I are talking about taking a trip some day to Disneyworld. I was there about 17 yrs ago(:scared1: I am old! how did that happen?) and hardly got to see Disney at all ( Gatorland on the other hand :sad2:).
We have poopooed the water parks and figure a minumum of 2 days each at the 4 other parks. Does this sound about right? We figure 2 weeks and that would be pretty much all Disney.

How long do you go for (whole trip, not just Disney) when you head to Florida?

My parents just went to Disney with my family. They had not been in 14 years (pre-Animal Kingdom). My mother was right in something she stated. There is just no way to do everything at Disney in a week. Now you have to pick and choose what you do and just go with the flow. We stayed a week and did not do the water parks. With our little boys it was not needed. Depending on the time of year, crowds, your tolerance to the conditions two weeks would be optimal. Mind you on my honeymoon eight years ago it was just the two of us for 10 days and we also missed a lot. There is just SO much to see and do with the rides and shows.

We go for 10 days, and it's still not enough time to do everything! 2 weeks would be a dream! :goodvibes

This is going to be our 4th trip to Disney world and we have done one week, 10 days and 14 days and this time we are going for 10 days.
The 2 weeks would be my 1st pick. There is a lot to see in Disney and with 2 weeks we didn't feel really rushed.

We have done from 7-10 days AT Disney. We have yet to see "everything" at Disney. Instead, depending on the ages of my children, I always try to make sure they get to do the things most important to them and then we go from there. I would DIE to do 14 days or more! Maybe one day!

My DH's initial plan was 21 days!(Ilove that man!)

Then I priced out park tickets, place to stay on site and spending money

:scared1::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I didn't even bother to cruch flight, food and character meals cost into the equation. It might be back to Disneyland yet!

We like 8-10 days (value resort, base tickets to keep it budget-friendly). This way we can have one or two non-park days, where we can hang out by the resort pool & swim, or head to downtown disney.
It's nice to not feel rushed, so we can sleep in a few days or head back early if we're all feeling tired.

I say that 5 days at the world is better than NO days. :) Having said that, we usually go for 7 nights and it works out just fine. We know that we are not going to see everything, but that is why we go back. :)

We've done trips from 6-10 days. Six is too short, ten is on the borderline of being too long. However, we stay at value resorts and eat mainly counter service meals. I am usually so sick of Disney food by the time we leave... We also go during Jan/early Feb when the crowds are low and the temps are usually too low for daily swimming. We get tons of park time and while we certainly never see EVERYTHING, we get to do and see everything we most want to do.

Well we've gone for 4 days as a family (offsite and we did Seaworld)...I've gone for 5 days, 6 days so far pre-kids.

This Aug we'll be there for 7 nights...but one day is "room only" so will only be at the parks for 6 days. We are already planning on going back NEXT Aug (taking my twin and nephew)...and again it will be for 7 or 8 nights....

I would LOVE 2 wks at Disney...but for us it just wouldn't work out so 1 wk is better than NO week.

Anyhoo.....we also know we can't do everything so that's why I am already planning a return trip for next year.

Our first trip was 12 days and this one is 13 (but we have a long weekend in there).

On our first trip we did the world, Sea World and Universal. We had enough time to leisurly enjoy everything (crowds were very low at all the parks inc. SW and US). We also took breaks in the afternoon.

By no means did we see everything, but we saw a lot!! It was overwhelming at first and we knew we were not going to get to everything.

This time we are not going to SW or US but we are going to a ball game in Tampa.

12 to 14 days is awesome because you can go at your own pace and really enjoy it!!

Have fun!!

We usually get to stay about 5 days. Now that our kids are getting older and involved in many activities it is not as easy to be gone as long. But 5 days is better than nothing!

We usually go for 6-8 days and always leave wanting more. I would love to have two whole weeks of nothing but Disney!!

We usually do about 5-6 days in the parks. We always hop around & never spend a full day at any one park.

OP - Not sure why you pooh-pooh the water parks, but Blizzard Beach is one of the things DH and I look forward to the most! We just love the water parks, especially the ones at WDW. They are a total blast!!

We alternate 1 week one year, 2 weeks the next. 2weeks I think is perfect. Long enough to be able to enjoy yourself without rushing. At about 10 days is when my DD starts showing the exhaustion though.

Every year between mid May and mid June we take a 10 day trip. This year it's 11 but thats unusual for us. We do the same plan every year. We alternate between theme parks and water parks with at least two resort days during the trip to just completely relax. This works out great for us. Sometimes we head to a park in the evenings on water park or resort days. We see everything we want to see and spend alot of time relaxing too.

We have taken five full day trips during the year too (usually the first week of Dec.). They work out fine too it's just a little more rushed and there are no water parks included. We visit each park once with a resort day in between. As with all trips to Disney, organization and planning is the key. Especially on shorter trips. Make a list of your must see's and do's at each park and on the property. Even if you had weeks it still wouldn't be enough time to experience everything Disney has to offer. Decide what rides, events, parks, restaurants, etc would make your trip wonderful and concentrate on that. Whatever you don't get to do, just gives you something to look forward to next time.:)

Thanks guys! I think that we will go with Disneyland this time around and next time the World. It will give me a little bit longer to save for a 3 week Disneyworld trip;)

10 nights 11 days is perfect for a WDW Trip especially if you want time to relax and enjoy some of the dinner shows. Unfortunately, this trip is only 9 nights and 10 days. :sad1:
