How long is your typical vacation at WDW?

Once a year (usually in late September to early October) for anywhere from 5 to 8 days.

We went for a weekend last year and we are going for a weekend again Feb 2nd. Long enough for us. During the year we also visit family in London, Austria, as well as visit our other house in Nigeria. That is more than enough traveling for my two little ones ages 1, and 3 but my older son loves it. We have traveling to Nigeria and Europ with the kids from the time they are 6 months old and they still don't travel well with the exception of my 7 year old.

question- Those of you that travel from beyond the south- Ill, Mass, PA etc.And those that go maore than once a year.... How do you and/or your spouse get off that much time? Do they use everyday of their vacation for Disney only? i'm just curious- to afford 2 weeklong or more trips-flying- to Disney even with the vacation club you'd both almost have to be working .... then aside from the financial burden- the time off would be a challenge to us..I teach so I could probably swing the time(although not the cost) he works in a job he;s had for a long time and he doesn't get that much time off... and he always need a few of those days to do nothing and work around the house, relax,,not drive etc.

So how do those of you that travel long distance and go more than 8 days a year- handle the time off?

Well, I personally don't have a hard time getting the time off. I have been w/my company for almost 9 years, so I get 3 weeks vacation. And we accrue time every week. I get like 2.something hours a week. Even though I took all 3 weeks of vacation last year, I still have over 120 hours vacation for '06. We also get 8 personal days, so I start w.those because they don't carry over from 1 year to the next but vaca time does!
I am also a DVC member, so vacations are a priority.
I am single so I don't have to worry about anyone else's schedule, like school.
I normally travel with either 1) dad who's retired or 2) my best friend who always has at least 100 vaca time or 3) boyfriend who has worked for his company for 10 years and never takes time for himself.

I take a few 3-day trips a year. Fly in Thursday night, do a park on Friday, on Saturday, on Sunday, and be home on Monday. :) That's my style - commando.

We average 6 trips per year. They vary from as few as 4 days to as many as 10. Generally, the trips with our 3 kids are longer (May, October, December, and March); while our adult-only trips tend to be long weekends.

We used to go every 3 or 4 years or so--and about 10 days/trip. But we went last June for 11 days, then to Disneyland in December for 6 days, and now we're planning another trip this summer for about 9 days.
What happened to going every 3 to 4 years?
I think you people have been a bad influence on me! :rotfl:

The longer the better... but sometimes that isn't possible :sad2:

I have done 10 nights in August (twice) with a 5 day universal add on

and at Christmas just 5 nights, not nearly enough time

Ideally 8 nights/9 days- once a year, with small trips (3-4 days) in between.

DH has his own business and I'm a stay at home mom. We go for the long trip in July so the kids don't miss school. I did take them out for four days in January so DH coud run the marathon.

We usually go for 10 nights and 11 days... we like to get 2 weekends in. Are we selfish? Oh well! LOL. :goodvibes

No less than 14 days, no more the 22 days.

Two weeks, any less it just wouldnt be worth the 9-10 hour flight, last trip door to door was about 19 hours!

This Aug will be our 2nd two wk WDW vacation.
In March Im going for 1 wk which has been our usual

Usually 7-9 days. I figure with airfare I might as well stay as long as I can. :cool1:

I wish it was more often, and for longer periods of time but...I do what I can!

We plan our annual family trip once a year. It's usually between 7 - 10 nights. The longer stays usually means we've also included a night or two at Universal and/or a DCL cruise. The most nights we've ever stayed at Disney itself was 6 nights.

Then besides our annual trip, for the past 2 years, we also planned a smaller, cheaper, girls only, trip to WDW usually in August. It's those darn APs that do it! ;)

Being from MA and paying a lot for airfare, it just can't be more often, although I wish it could be. :goodvibes

It has been 3-4 days in the past, usually in combination with the Disney cruise. We did a 5 day with our daughter's high school band. We will be going for 8 days in May so that will be our longest trip yet.

Varies between 1 and 2 weeks. Last trip was 3 nts disney 4 nts cruise then 6nts disney. Next trip will be 8 nights in May - also getting another 7 nts in October for honeymoon. In 2007 we won't go at all then hopefully at least 10 nts in 2008 and 2009. We use AP's so these will last for our next two trips, then we will get another one for our 2008 and 2009 trips. APs are great value but don't really save cash as they make you go more! But we do have dvc which helps.

We usually go every other years for 12 days in the spring and 12 days either at Thanksgiving or Christmas. I always say I wish we could stay longer. :tink:
