How long is the walk from The Westin really?

I've heard conflicting reports and when I plug in directions into Google Maps it pulls up a weird route that says 27 min. Hoping that's incorrect.

And what is the exact route? I think I read that using the Grand Californian entrance is not an option so we'd have to truly walk through DTD to the main gates. Is that accurate?

Yes, you go through DTD entering security by the DLH. If you look at the final destination on that Google Maps route it's somewhere around Haunted Mansion and is a little bit of a strange route. I put in La Brea Bakery as the destination to get a better sense as it's at the Esplanade end of DTD. For that it says 19 min.

Of course that does not include any time at security. When we stayed at the Westin last June it was 16min from our room to through DTD security (with about 6 parties in line ahead of us at security). So approximately 20 min to the Esplanade (not including security time) seems about right.

thank you for this! I am staying there April 17th-22nd and was a little daunted by the walk! I assume we can leave through the Grand?

Thanks - I don't know why my map was putting an extra little side route in there and increasing the time. Odd. I just keep second guessing whether I am concerned with that distance or not. But I keep telling myself I prefer comfort over distance.

That was our experience last fall as well. It’s really only 5 or so minutes further than Paradise Pier, depending on how you catch the lights.

Yes, you can walk out the front door of the Grand to shorten your walk at the end of the night. You just can't do that coming in.

Also our experience. No one ever questioned us at all going out through GCH.
