How long is the Kilimanjaro Safari?

We have just one short AK day planned. We have a 2:30 reservation at Sanaa. How does these look for FP+? Will we have time to do Kilimanjaro Safari's one time right after rope drop and still make the Festival of the Lion King?

Festival of the Lion King9:30 - 9:50 am
Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain®10:30 - 11:30 am
Kilimanjaro Safaris®11:40 - 12:40 pm

The ride itself is about 20-25 minutes. If rope drop is at 9am, that would probably be pushing it. I've not been there since FOTLK moved from Camp Mickey Minnie, so I will defer to someone who has been there since, and who goes more often than I do.

Are you talking about a 9am opening? If so, I don't think you'd want to try to get a safari ride in before the 9:30 Lion King. You just never know with the safari, we once were stuck for 15 minutes behind a giraffe that wouldn't get off the road.

I was just going to say that. We once sat there for 25 minutes while a giraffe stood in front of us. And then he finally moved and we had to stop while one the "antelopish family" stood there and licked the side of the truck for 10 minutes and the driver wouldn't drive off.

Everyone above mentioned above what can happen. Same to us. Was horrible as my DS Really, really had to peee. He was 7 at the time. So as a tip, potty break before the ride; esp if you have a long line. . We were stuck a good 20 minutes. Was seriously going thru options in my heads.

Thanks everyone! I am just now catching up on my posts that got buried. So if we really want to try and do the Safari twice, and want to leave AK by 1:45, should I rearrange my Fastpass+? I'd say the two priorities for that park are FOTLK and the Safari.

I don't think you necessarily have to rearrange if you can really get in for rope drop. Your time for FotLK is the 20 minutes that only FP+ people are allowed in. (I'm pretty sure it works like Nemo, somebody correct me if I'm wrong!) After that, the general public is allowed in for seating for 10 minutes, and then the show would start at 10am. So if you want to do the safari twice, this couldv work for you.

BUT if you want to be able to relax about it and not watch the clock so hard on vacation, I think you could rearrange without much trouble. Ride safari SB at rope drop, then FP Everest. Hopefully you could FP safari again next and then LK right before you head out. (Or reverse those last 2, depending on the timing of LK.)
