Has anyone walked this? How does one get to it? About how many minutes does it take when walking? Is there also a boat from Epcot to Hollywood Studios? Would it be better to take the monorail from the Contemporary to Epcot and then get on a boat to Hollywood Studios? Or is the bus better to get to Hollywood Studios from the Contemporary? TIA!!!!

1- Yup.
2- It's just outside the gates of DHS, and just outside the International Gateway of Epcot.
It's a regular open walkway (lighted at night.) You just put one foot in front of the other.
3- 25 minutes, give or take.
4- Yup. It goes either direction, making 3 interim stops at the various Epcot area resorts.
5- Nope.
6- Yes.

Yes, that was the estimate I was going to give - 25 minutes.

I *think* you could actually cut through the Boardwalk Resort, but I've never tried it, so I'm not sure.

Yes, there is a boat going from Epcot to DHS, but it also stops at the Swan/Dolphin, Yacht/Beach Club, and Boardwalk resorts. The boat may or may not be faster than walking. It's variable on how long you have to wait for the boat and how long you have to wait at each stop. It probably takes around 25 minutes, as well.

Definitely take the bus from Hollywood Studios to the Contemporary. The monorail to Epcot is at the front entrance of the park. The boat from Epcot to DHS is at the back entrance/exit of the park. So you'll have to walk the entire length of the park to the World Showcase exit at the back, then take a boat to the entrance of DHS. The entire journey could potentially take an hour or more. TAKE THE BUS!!!

I think it's about a mile, since walking it at a relaxed pace takes me 20 to 25 minutes. I usually only walk when I'm stopping at one of the resorts though, and I always forget the order of the stops, and whichever resort I'm going to is always the last one it stops at.

Thanks so much everyone! I love the map, thank you! So the bus would probably be a better way to get to HS and less hot. We are going in July!

It is simpler and faster to take a bus from the CR to the Studios. And if you did the CR monorail to Epcot, not only do you have quite a ways to walk (or walk and then boat), you also need park hoppers to go to both Epcot and DHS.

We're a weird family, but we love the walk! :rotfl2: the boat is boring, slow, enclosed, and takes the same, if not more, time.

We like to walk so much we have definitely taken the monorail from the MK area to Epcot, walked through Epcot, then walked to DHS. In fact, we do it every time actually! I guess you can also infer that we don't care for buses, lol. ;)

It's definitely not for everyone, but we prefer the walking. It's a nice, quiet path with hardly anyone on it. Not a lot of places you will find peace and quiet at WDW! :goodvibes

If you and your family are fit and enjoy exercise, being outdoors, try the walk. :thumbsup2

Edited to add: you can cut through BW, it doesn't really save you a lot of time/distance but we do it anyway.

The boat from Epcot - Hollywood Studios leaves from the International Gateway entrance/exit and it will stop at the Boardwalk, Yacht Club/Beach Club, Swan/Dolphin before arriving at Hollywood Studios.

The shortcut through the Boardwalk is through the Luna Park pool,if walking from DHS to Epcot go through the pool area where you'll see a hallway with bathrooms and a gameroom,go through that hallway and it will lead to the open courtyard area of the Boardwalk, get on the actual boardwalk and go towards the ESPN Club and keep going and then make a right after the walkway goes over the bridge. On Robos map the pink line shows the shortcut.I've done the walk in 20 minutes walking fast,25 minutes sounds right if walking average speed.

I do the walk every trip and enjoy it. It is quiet, and always seems to have a nice breeze even on the hottest days.
I always beat the boat from Beach club to DS, even when I am strolling. It is fun to grab something sweet at the Bakery along with a cool drink to give you the energy. (chocolate works)
When I am at MK I will take the bus from there to the first drop of either the Yacht, Beach, Dolphin or Swan bus, don't remember which, I think it is Swan but I walk to DS or Epcot from there.

I'm heading to WDW again this September - can hardly wait :cool1:. I don't particularly like the restaurants (counter/table) to Hollywood Studios and being a coeliac doesn't help! But, I think I could take having one meal a day in the park but would love to leave and head to a resort instead ... quite fancy the idea of a walk. Can anyone tell me if there is a map of walkable route in WDW? I have walked from the Yachtclub to EPCOT but that's about it ;) ... so any ideas of good eating places in the resorts or good and quiet walks would be much appreciated :woohoo:

ITA! We love the walk and its definitely faster than the boat, even when the boat was pulling out as we were just exiting, we got to Epcot MUCH faster than the boat from DHS does.

We always go to DHS in the mornings and pretty much never eat there due to lack of food choices. If we see that the MK is not crowded on our apps, we'll walk to Epcot, grab lunch and a drink at the UK or France and then take the monorail to MK. Its one of my favorite ways! We go through Epcot a LOT though as a good number of our favorite lunch spots are there.

Zombie thread! (Although I'll concede that the information in it hasn't changed. ;))

You would probably have gotten more info if you had started a brand new thread, rather than restarting one that's more than 2 years old.
In any case.....the walk from DHS to the Epcot resorts (S/D/YC/BC/BW) is about 15-20 mins, depending on which resort you go to. To get to Epcot is about 22 mins.
There are lots of great places to eat at these resorts. I love Picabu at the Dolphin. Captain's Grill at the YC is nice as well. Cape May is nice but you really do have to have an ADR there. Flying Fish at BW is great, but expensive.
I really like just walking around this area. The walk from DHS to BW is nice...not shaded but nice anyway. Then, you can just walk all the way around the lake....you can even walk back to DHS is you want, after making a circle. Or, amble around the various resorts.

Great thread. I'll have to remember to reread this one before our trip.

So us. We even get off the monorail at the CR and walk over to the MK. We're walkers (although my DD and DS are runners but not in Disney in August) so we enjoy getting off the clogged trasportation systems and stretching our eyes as well as our legs. :thumbsup2
