How long is the DVC tour and what is it like? Do they take you to all the DVC resorts?

We'll be arriving our first day around 9:45am... so thought we might could do the tour and get it out of the way that day, and swing over to DD to eat dinner???

It's been a long time since we did the tour (at least 12 years ago), but I think it is about an hour and a half that you should allow. It is not at all high pressure, and the length of time it takes is really kind of up to you.

The only resort the tour takes you to is SSR. If you want to see any of the others, you can drive to them and ask at the front desk if any rooms are available to take a look at.

Except for OKW, all the floor plans are generally the same at the DVC resorts. Once you see one, you have seen them all!
Just the theme is different.

::yes::

Just schedule it in advance with your Guide and let him/her know that you would like to be finished by a specific time for PS or other scheduled activity. If you won't have your own car while visiting, they will happily pick you up before the tour and drop you off at your choice of destination afterward.

The first time we toured, Sept of 1998, we were in and out in less than 45 minutes. We had toured time shares before, so they part about prepaying for vacations was not new. They showed us the price and let us talk about it. We couldn't swing it at the time and called our guide. We told her we wouldn't be able to do it now and she said, "No problem. I'll get you some info and a video and your lunch voucher together for you." I asked, wait a minute, where's the sales manager? She asked, "I'm sorry. Did I offend you in some way?" I said no, but where is the high pressure? She said,"we don't have that here. We're not on commission." That really impressed me.
Cut ahead. Dec 99. Rainy, cold Saturday. We're just leaving WDW that day while half the civilized population is getting here for Christmas. We take another tour to kill some time and to get updated info. I tell our guide, a replacement as our regular is off today, exactly that and he says, "No problem. We're slow today anyway." He fills me in, I don't know as much as I think I do. He leaves us with the price and goes to get a new video and literature. son of a gun! We can afford it now. I tell him, sorry, I lied to you.
He looks hurt. "How?" he asks. I do want to buy I tell him. We check on the kids while they do the credit check and print off the forms. We relax with a coke and joke for a while. We sign all the forms and are still out in 3 hours total, which has been the AVERAGE time for presentations everywhere else we looked the last 4 years. What a great time!

The tour is now held at SSR and it takes about an hour or so. They will show you model rooms of the different resorts too. If you call ahead I'm sure they will work around your schedule. Good Luck!!!

I took the tour of SSR in February. It took about 1 1/2 hours. It could take somewhat longer than that if you were on the verge of buying and had done little research, because you would hopefully ask a million questions before taking the plunge.

As others will tell you, there is absolutely zero pressure. Very professional, no running "closers" in on you, or holding you hostage like you were buying a car. Very Disney.

The only part I didn't like was the multimedia extravaganza, which wasted about five minutes before I was actually allowed to see the accommodations. I wasn't really interested in hype, and I already knew Disney could create pretty movies - but I guess it's something the guides have to make sure you "experience."

I'd strongly recommend the tour to anyone thinking of buying DVC. The photos are pretty, but I don't think they compare to actually seeing the resort.

I was skeptical about taking the tour, as I thought they would try to keep me for hours. I went in determined to make it only 30 minutes. I told the kiosk rep. that I only had 1/2 hour, he said that's fine. He also told me I would get 4 fastpasses for going, but since I was leaving the next day, asked him if I could get the meal vouchers instead, he said no problem (much better deal than the fastpasses--our free food would have been over $80.00!). I told our guide I was pressed for time, and he said no problem. As it was getting close to the time, he said "I know our time is coming to a close, is there anything else I can help you with" I said no, he gave the kids their ice cream, me my vouchers, and I was back to our hotel in 10 minutes. They are very accomodating, don't be worried.

Hi,
We did it last Summer and were there a good two hours. We went to Saratoga Springs. I wasn't deadly impressed by the guy we had. He made a comment in the first few minutes which nearly resulted in us getting up and walking.
They also rushed us out of their 'ice cream palour' into an almost waiting bus. Sorry, if I put you off but as I say this was our experience. In my opinion it was hard sell in a covert way. Tell them you're not sure and they usher you out -discreetly of course...... :cloud9:

My DW and I did the tour in April. One thing that makes it relaxing is they don't pressure you. I have had to be rude on other timeshare tours because I knew after 5 min. I was not interested and had to make that clear. We were very interested in DVC ,asked many questions so the tour took almost 2 hrs. I would have signed the Mickey ears right then and there but waited until we got home. That's the one suggestion I can give even if you are sure about purchasing. When you get home you can sit down ,go over it and you may decide on more points than you originally thought you wanted. That was our biggest decision---how many points! Good luck.

The bad part was that it was 2 1/2 hours, well over the amount of time I expected. However, what was really nice was that even though I was solo (DH at home-no interest, even in the tour!), my guide was very nice and showed me everything, knowing he wasn't going to make a sale that day. In the long run, it paid off for him-after I came home with my little plastic bag with the video, book, etc. we bought. What's funny is that DH, who didn't even want to go on the tour, turned out to be much more anxious to buy than I was. Kind of makes you wonder how effective the sales presentation was.

It was so long ago I don't remember exactly, but it seems to me that it was a couple of hours. Of course, we asked a million questions, so our poor guide was probably  because we kept him a while.

We did the tour the first week in May. We made it clear that we wouldn't be signing anything that day but wanted all the information to take home. It was about 90 min since we didn't go over the contract or paper work. Our guide was really friendly and no pressure at all.

We did an unscheduled drop in on the way to the airport. The guide asked how long we had and we said 20 min. as we already had reviewed the video and just wanted to see the place. Our guide got us out in 20 min. no pressure.

My 3 experiences taking the tour were pretty much the same as almost everyone who's posted up to this point. No pressure and we were in and out in less than 1 1/2 hours each time. Yep, we did three tours, two at the old site at BWV and then just this past fall as SSR. The 1st time we were curious but we didn't really consider it seriously, the 2nd time we were more serious but still didn't buy, and the 3rd time we took family to get the SSR tour. Oh, we actually made the DVC plunge between about a year after the 2nd tour.

So, do they have the models of the other resorts at SSR like they used to have at BW? I have friends going next month who may be interested in taking the tour.

As others have said there was no pressure when we walked in off the boardwalk in 1997 and started the whole conversation with - " We don't want to see any movies or listen to a long informatinal talk- we would just like to ask a couple of questions". We asked the questions - got the answers and the literature - went out on the boardwalk - had a beer and some nachos and went back in and said bring on the papers."
Never did see the units except the one we were sitting in when we signed the papers. You can control the length of time you are there. We did not get any of the perks others have mentioned but since we didn't know they might be available didn't miss them. I will say our guide was extremely goodl in helping us decide how many points and which resort we bought. At the time we had a choice of OKW or BWV. OKW was the winner and is still my favorite. Never did see the OKW models - our first visit was a year later and included a sutdio at BW, GV and 2BR at OKW.
