How long is the bus ride from ASMo to MK?

I am in the very beginning stages of developing a touring plan for what we'll want to see and where we'll want to eat on our vacation for Aug 2005.

We'll be staying at the ASMovies resort with 5 year old twins and a 2 1/2 year old.

My questions are in regards to travel time on WDW property. Exactly how long is the bus ride from ASMo to MK? The travel time probably varies depending on time of day...

1. About how long would the ride be first thing in the morning; to be at the gates when they open?

2. About how long would the ride be during middle afternoon to leave MK and head back to ASMo for a nap?

3. About how long would the ride be leaving MK in the evening and coming back to ASMo after fireworks?

If you could also include how long you waited for the bus to arrive in addition to how long the actual ride was, that would be great.

I stayed at ASMu (right next to ASMo) and I think the ride was about 10-15 minutes in the morning. I went on a Sunday EMH and I don't think I waited more than a couple minutes for the bus to get on the bus. I didn't take a break, so I don't know about that. Going back after Wishes took about the same time for travel, but probably took 10-15 minutes more just to get on the bus (not including exiting the park and walking to the stop). The AS stops are among the farthest from the gates of any park. I think MK was about the only park where the All Stars didn't share a bus, though.

The ride itself takes about 10-15 minutes. In the mornings the buses run pretty close together so you may have a small wait or 5-10 minutes, always seems longer through because you want to get to the park. In the afternoons your wait for a bus might be longer since they run fewer buses. Wait times have usually been between 10-15 minutes. After the park closes they run many buses but there are also many people trying to get on them so that means long lines and I have waited anywhere from 15-35 minutes to get on a bus after park close.

Although many people knock the disney buses I have found them to be great transportation.

Most of the time when we left MK for our afternoon break the bus was waiting at the stop. Sometimes we waited a few minutes.

We found the bus service to be very good at the Movies.

I also stayed at ASMov in June. We found the bus service to be really good. I know I got to Epcot and MGM before the 9 AM opening. I left the resort at 8:15 and got to Epcot by 8:30. The waits never seemed long. We did take breaks and again, we didn't wait too long for them then either.

We will have our own car with us. Will it take longer you think to drive ourselves and park at MK then walk to the gate then it would to just take the bus?

The bus will drop you off at the gate at MK while if you drive the parking lot is across the lagoon and you will have to take either the ferry or monorail to reach the gates. The buses are faster when you are going to MK.
