How long have/were your kids out of school?

I was just "talking" to another DISer and realized it has been a looong summer. DS's school closed a week early because our base in Italy was shutting down. Plus he normally goes back to school in August, but with the move he will go in September, so all together from the end of second grade to the start of third grade DS has been out of school for 13-1/2 weeks. So that got me to thinking what the average summer break was. How long were your kids out this summer?

Well, school was over June 20th, but DD had to take a class over summer because her schedule is going to be too full to fit in all the requirements in the fall. She goes back to "real" school Sept. 8th - so she hasn't had a very long vacation at all this year.

we usually get 9-10 weeks of summer vacation. scholl let out around June 24 and we go back Sept. 7.

We have a total of 11 weeks off...2 more to go!

we were out about 11 weeks. I thought it went by too quickly this year. I was sorry to see them go back. I am usually the mom dancing in the streets, but this year I just thought went by too quickly!

School in our district ended for K-8 on 6/11 and 9-12 on 6/10. All students resume classes on Monday, August 30.

The longest me and my brother been out when we were in school was 7 months! We moved from the PI to US. The school in the PI ends sometime in Feb, then we moved here in June while the kids were getting out of school. Then we went back to school in Sept. That was a nice looong vacation!!

10 weeks, two days.

Next year, we will have more than 13 weeks. The NC legislature passed a bill (caved into the tourism lobby) that school cannot start before August 25. So we'll be getting out in May on the old calendar and starting on the new one in late August.

DD's get 8 weeks. They have been back to school for 3 weeks now. This is the start of their 4th week.

They get a week off in Oct and a 2 week spring break.

It is considered a modified year round.
