We have lunch reservations at TRex (all I can get) and are hoping to spend the am at EPCOT, have lunch, and then head back to EPCOT. Will this be too much? What is the travel time between the two? We will be taking the bus. Thanks!

You need to go to a RESORT to get to DTD.

So, if you walked to Boardwalk from Epcot's International Gateway, then took the DTD bus from there, figure the trip (once boarded and underway) to take about 15 minutes.

The return trip will be the reverse of that.

HOWEVER...
The wait time for the BUS (each direction) is a wild card which could take anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes at each location.

Figure 35 to 45 minutes of time between Epcot & DTD and another 35 to 45 minutes to get back.

My daughter loves Dinosaurs and we enjoy T Rex, but there is no way I would leave Epcot to go eat it, then come back to finish my day. I would budget 2 - 2.5 hours to leave, eat and get back.

I would probably start my walk to the International Gateway no less than an hour before my reservation.

I think you would be mush better off just adding your name to a wait list at a table service in Epcot or even grabbing one of the better counter services in the area.

Tangierine Café is, in my opinion, the best counter service in all of WDW. You also have the pizza window on the boardwalk. Katsura Grill, Sunshine Seasons and Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Norway are all very solid counter service choices as well.

If you are on the DDP and just need to spend a table service I think you would be better off just walking up and waiting for a table.

Now, if you meant you wanted to do T-Rex and the only reservation they had was lunch, I would ask if you called the restaurant directly or did you book through Disney. They hold ALOT of reservations back from WDW to book on their own. If you would prefer another time, give them a call directly and see what they have.

That's a difficult run to make that will eat up a lot of your day. Trust me, T-Rex is not worth that. Get CS at Epcot somewhere instead.

to agree with the other posters. Epcot has better selections.

If you still want to eat at T-Rex, try calling the restaurant directly. They release only some of their reservations to Disney. I have found that there are usually more options available if you call directly.

Thank you for all the advice! Unfortunately TRex is a must for my 2 boys and actually we really enjoyed it a few years ago. I think I will try and call them directly and see if I can get a better time. This is the one time that disney would give me and I really didn't think it would work good. You are right that we would be losing a lot of time in the exchange. Thanks for the number!:goodvibes

Just wanted to add, that taking the bus from any of the Epcot resort would includes stops at Typhoon Lagoon, both going to DTD and returning to the hotel.

Also, I am almost certain the Boardwalk's bus would include a stop at the Swan and Dolphin as they consistently share busses. It could also include a stop at the Yacht Club and the Beach Club.

You may not stop at all the resorts on the way there, but would stop at some combination of them either at pick up or drop off.

The DTD busses are also notoriously off schedule and many guests have reported excessive waits for them at the hotels and the DTD stops.

We stay at the BC often and the DTD bus is not one I would every take again. I would either drive, or in your case using Disney transportation, I would opt to pay for a cab from one of the hotels and back. The time saved would be well worth the $30 or so.

Great suggestions from other posters to call and try for a reservation that better works for you. Would hate to spend the money thinking I'd have a full day at Epcot then spend several hours traveling and eating lunch.

The bus is going to take a very long time. If time is of the essence you should consider using a taxi.

Going from Epcot to DTD, you can walk out the International Gateway and catch a bus from either the Beach Club or Boardwalk (BC is closer but the bus will head to DTD from BW so it's not really a problem which one you pick).

Coming back, that bus will stop at Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk. So the resorts you need to reach for an easy walk back to Epcot are the last two on the list (if you go that route use the Beach Club, it's a bit closer to Epcot). You should allow at least an hour and a half to do this.

Plus, if Typhoon Lagoon is open, throw in an extra stop there on both legs of the trip.

Call T-Rex directly and get a better time rather than deal with the bus when trying to go from Epcot to DTD and back. It is going to be a LOT of time on a bus with 3 little children.
