When we had early seating, we were usually out of the dining room between 7:15 and 7:30. You can have the servers serve the kids their main courses during your appetizers and then let them have their dessert during your main course. That usually takes about a little less than an hour. You can then either skip dessert yourself, or take them to the clubs between courses. They also usually serve their entire station the courses at the same time, so you are usualy eating at the same time as everyone else.

The kids menu items are always much faster than the adult ones. It's not uncommon for the kids main course to come during the appetizer course, and lots of families leave to take the kids to the club. Your server will just leave the cover on your entree until you get back.

My DD usually ordered off the adult menu, and they told her that that "line" didn't open up until appetizers were served, so the night she was in a hurry, she got mac and cheese.

So it's okay to let the kids eat what they want and leave, even if it's the middle of dinner for everyone else?Do i have to ask the server to bring their entrees with our apps or is that automatic?

Our servers on our last cruise did it automatically, but on our first cruise we had to ask. Just when you place your order, ask them if they can bring out the kids main courses with your appetizers. Shortly after the main course arrived, they'd bring out the kids desserts. They were usually finished around the same time DH and I were finished. Sometimes, we'd order dessert before we brought them up, sometimes after, it just depended on how the timing worked out that night. Sometimes, the kids wanted to hang out with us, and didn't leave until we were finished.

My DD was 6 when we went and each night our servers brought her meal and dessert pretty quickly (kids menu) I would then walk her up to the kids clud and then come back finish dinner at a leisurely pace and then pick her up for the evening show. It worked great for all of us.

I have a 5 and newly 3 yr old and even though dinners were at least an hour or more somehow they seemed entertained the whole time. There is a lot of commotion in the dining rooms, plus crayons and coloring sheets and sometimes magic tricks. They lasted without complaints.

wow- so we can take them over to the club and enjoy our dinner? mine too eat when we have our salads and such. I was worried how this would work.

We too let them eat and head off to the clubs. That is, when they actually ate with us. They ususally chose to eat with the kids club and not with us. We were then able to enjoy a dinner by ourselves a few times. We did have exceptions though, they needed to eat with us on Formal night and Pirate night as well as the first night. The other nights they decided they would rather be with their new friends and eating whatever it was that they wanted.
