need a charger for our trip. had seen recommendations that Anker was very good. Purchased an Anker charger that takes 12-16 hours to charge. that won't work, I need the charger with me in the parks not back at the resort charging

looking for suggestions of a quality charger that does not take as long.

Thank you

The more mah the longer it'll take to charge. So if you get a small one with say 2000 mah it'll be a lot quicker to charge but you'll get nearly one full iPhone charge off it. If you get a bigger one around 10,000mah you'll be looking at a few hours to charge but you'll get multiple charges off it before it has to be recharged.

I would recommend just getting one around 10,000mah and leave it charging overnight and you'll have more than enough juice for your park day

I've never used Anker but hear their good. I've used EasyACC and Urge Basics which were good

thank you, the one I bought is 10,000mah.

I do a lot of live streaming from the parks, in the past I've both to portable chargers and on busy days I would go through them before the end of the day.
I recently bought the fuel rod at the park that you can swap for a fully charged one at all parks and disney springs, best decision. Now when I'm done charging I just go to a kiosk and swap for a fully charged one

I have the Anker Astro E4 Classic 13000mAh off of Amazon. My iPhone 5 doesn't keep a charge very long anymore, already replaced the battery once, should prolly replace it again, however I visit the parks with it in my pocket and a cable to my phone, especially if I'm face timing mom or recording a show. I haven't drained it in one day's use yet. I'm sure I look silly with a cord from my phone to my pocket put I don't care.

I also have a Mophie Juicepack as my case so I first use that till its dead, then switch to the Anker

like others said, the bigger the battery, the longer it takes to fill it full of juice. we have 2 anker power core 10000 mah. they charge up over nights well enough. we also have an aukey 20000 mah. that thing takes FOREVER to charge to the point where it's not as useful, not to mention it weighs a ton.

Just charge it overnight. It should be fine for a full day in the parks. DH (who works with Ankers a LOT) says you could charge 3 phones fully with that charge.

I have never heard that before but it certainly explains why my bigger charger takes some time to charge up.

I have a 10,000 or 12,000mah charger. I make sure I charge it fully before I leave on a trip where I know I'll need it, then I just plug the charger in every night. It's never been completely discharged in one day, even charging two iPhones multiple times.

As mentioned above, the higher capacity the battery, the longer it takes to charge fully.

However, some batteries are compatible with "Quick charge" that allows the battery either to itself charge faster, or to charge other QC compatible phones faster (Samsung Galaxy S7 for example, not iPhones), or both.

Example:

Anker PowerCore+ 26800 Premium Portable Charger High Capacity External Battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 and PowerPort+ 1 with Quick Charge 3.0 Wall Charger https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016HNALOI/

This battery can charge itself via Quick Charge as well as charge phones with quick charge.

If charging speed is important to you, get a battery that can charge itself with Quick Charge (which seems pretty rare unfortunately).

Going to buy one next week at my home airport to take to the parks - just curious how fast does it charge? I have a charger but it is like a brick and want to travel light this trip. The fuel rod seems the way to go since I don't have to worry about recharging it there.

Ankers can charge with quick charge so I'm not sure which model you got.. Sounds like you might have oversized it which is fine as you should only need to put back in the power you used the day before.. Also if your phones are dying that fast, you might want to look into some better settings for screen saver, low power modes, not as bright of a screen.. basically the screen is the biggest hog of power and you want that to be off as much as possible..

I'm not sure how fast it chargers since I'm usually using my phone while I'm charging. But I plug it on and it continues to charge for about 2 hours

Also, if your portable charger does not come with a wall charger, use a wall charger that has a 2.1 amp output.

My first portable charger came in the mail on Saturday. It was 1/2 charged, so I did an experiment. The 1 amp output wall charger was insufficient and got very hot. The 2.1 amp wall charger charged it up fully in a couple of hours.

I have this one.

The specs say about 8 hours to charge. Which is more than enough on a Disney trip. We may not get 8 hours of sleep but we are in the room at least 8 hours on any given night.
I have no idea is that is accurate but overnight is enough to get it done so I've never had an issue with it.
I don't ever use it up though. My phone will last till later afternoon so I only use the portable one for a short time. It charges my phone back up and I unplug it.

Also location services can be a drain, as well as wifi, and bluetooth, which are included in low power modes. If the phone keeps pinging for a wifi or bluetooth signal it will drain faster. I generally will turn those off if I don't need them. I'm primarily using the phone in the park for pictures (in addition to Photopass) and booking the next fast pass after our morning ones are used up. My wife has an iPhone and I have a Nexus phone so we have to carry two cables with us for the external battery but it is manageable.

We have a 10ah "brick", and it can use a charger up to 5A. We charge it with a 5.1A charger and it takes a few hours. If you use the cell-phone chargers that are often 1A or less, it's going to take proportionally longer. So it depends not just on the portable charger itself, but what you're using to charge it.

So be sure to check your specs and see how much current it can handle during the re-charging process.

For the Parks, you need a Fuel Rod - it takes 30 seconds to charge & then you are good to go! (And by charge, I mean you put your old Fuel Rod in the machine & they give you a fully charged one!) It was AWESOME!

It ends up being about $5 cheaper if you order it online rather than purchase it in the parks.
