How long does it take YOU to drive to WDW?

It takes us 12-13 hours from Yorktown, VA. We don't stop except for gas and maybe one meal at a fast food joint. How about you?

We don't drive b/c I live in Maine. It would take 2 days to get down there and another 2 days to come home.

From North Alabama, it takes 10 1/2 to 12 hours. That depends on what time of day it is when we hit Atlanta and how many there are in the car.

I'm hoping in December by myself with 429 and Western Way completely open I can do the drive in 10. It will be 8pm when I shoot through Atlanta, so it should be smooth sailing. However, I'll stop in Ocala for the night and get an early start the next morning.

From Washington, IL. 17 hours, with one food stop, and rest areas every 3 hours, and gas stops!! We are flying in July 3 hours to MCO!!

I think my in-laws said about 16-17 hours from the Pittsburgh, PA area.

10.5 hours from East Tennessee! We do stop to eat.

12-14 hours from the Lexington, KY area. Usually find a fast food joint attached to a gas station so we only make 1 stop. Depends on construction through Knoxville and Georgia though.

DH still laughs about a friend of his who lives near us who once told him he and his family made in in "21 hours, straight through" driving a little Chevette, LOL. In fact, every time I mention the possibility of us driving, he brings it up.

Long ago when we used to do the drive, from northeastern Ohio, straight through stopping only for gas and restrooms, it was 19 hours.

Those days are gone, too much traffic, semis, big cities and alot of time.

We have been taking Amtrak for over 8 years now, its 26 hours with layovers but a heck of alot less stressing, no wear and tear on the auto, we eat and reststop on the train and we use our bonus rewards to up grade to a roomette on the long legs of our trip. Even when we used to drive, we always used Disney transportation on property. After driving like a crazy man for 19 some hours, driving around Disney was not my cup of tea. Think thats why we like Disney so much, they haul you everywhere on their dime, no fuss no muss for me.

Drove the first three trips. Takes ~18 hours from San Antonio/Austin. After the first time we flew, DW said no more driving! I agreed! We've been flying ever since. Eighteen hours vs. five hours from home to Disney...no contest!

Doing it again next week....We usually stop for 1 night on the way.
We made it all the way to North Carolina last time!

We always drive except for the last time we flew. It only took 2-3 hours for the actual flight but we all hated it. It was so much more stressful to us. And I hated the craziness of the ME check in area. We're driving again on our next trip. We used to drive straight through the night and eat breakfast in Orlando, and spend the whole day at Sea World. We would then check into our resort that night and either go to DTD or have a late dinner at a resort. I think the more we all get older though that's not as fun anymore so we're staying over a night in Orlando before going to Sea World the next day.

I drive from northern NJ, and 19 hours is the best I ever done. Usually it's closer to 20 hours, and that is with eating food in my car, and just stopping for gas. The poster here who knows someone who drove from Boston in 21 hours (in a Chevette) - WOW! I am about 5-6 hours south-east from Boston, and barely make better time! But I admit to going the speed limit for most of the trip, as I am no speed devil!

I also usually take the Amtrak AutoTrain in one direction, so that makes things more fun, and less stressful!

13 hours from Memphis, Tennessee, area. This distance (driving time) is just long enough that we occasionally fly if the prices are low enough or we can use "standard rates" on our airline miles.

Wow...we are doing that for the first time this year!!!. We are driving down from Boston and then taking the autotrain back. We figured we would try something new. The kids are really looking forward to the train, too. Hopefully it will be less stressful
