How long does it take to tour US/IOA?

I will be checking in at the Portofino at noon...should I go to US or IOA to spend half the day? Will US take a full day?

There are more shows at Universal Studios so it's harder to do the park quickly. I assume you'll have tickets and can hop between parks the next day? If so you could start out at IoA and if you don't see it all you could go back another day.
