How long does it take to get from MK to GF on the monorail?

Can someone please tell me how long it takes to get from Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian hotel by the monorail? After begging DH, he finally said we can get the Florida resident seasonal pass So on our arrival day we will be checking in around 1pm if we can. Since we'll have the pass now, I want to go to MK after checking in. We have 4:40 ADR's at 1900 Park Fare so we'll only have a couple hours before hand to do MK. I dont know what time we should catch the monorail to head over to the GF. MK is open until 11 pm that night so after 1900 Park Fare we'll go back to MK for the rest of the night. Thanks for any help you can give me!!

It might be quicker for you to take the boat launch from MK to GF rather than taking the monorail. Reason being, launch will go from from MK directly to GF. The monorail will go from MK, to CR to TTC, to Poly then to GF.

If you are going to GF from MK, I'd recommend taking the boat as it is much faster than the monorail. It took us 45 minutes to get from MK to GF one day via monorail; that's the last time we made that mistake. You can get there by boat in about 5 - 10 minutes. If you are going to MK from GF, the monorail is probably faster.

It's about a 3-5 minute on the monorail (no stops) from the GF to the MK.

The MK to the GF is about 10-15 minutes (3 stops)

You are going to LOVE the GF!

To be safe, I'd figure a 10 minute wait for the monorail, 10 minute ride and 10 minutes to get from the monorail to 1900. Is that conservative? Sure. You could probably only allow 25 or even 20 minutes and be fine. But in doing so you get 5 extra minutes at the park, and then a worrisome ride.

Wow, thanks to both of you for the quick response. Like I said before, I learn something new on here everyday. I didn't know there was a boat launch to get to the GF. Where do I get on the boat exactly? Is it at the front of the park where you get on the monorail? My kids will loving riding the boat there and then we'll catch the monorail back.

We just got back from the GF.

We took the monorail there and the boat back. There was never more than a five minute wait for the boat.

Its a safe bet that its at the LAKE.

All of the boat docks are across the front of the lake-front at MK.

The actual berth for the boats you want can change, but the signage is very clear.

Its USUALLY over on the side of the dock that is nearest the Grand Floridian (on the right as you face the lake) near the monorail ramps.

The launches (which look like little "Jungle Cruise" boats) make a first-stop at GF, then go on to the Poly, then they return to MK (loop).

The boast is very fast, I must agree. I suggest you take this on the way back from the parks as it is never very crowded...however...on the way to the park, I would take the monorail as it is the very next stop after GF.
** If your hotel room is byh the boat launch...I would take the boat always!

The boat launch for MK is right near the restaurant that is outside...Cirtico's..Narcoose's...not sure which one. But it directly across from the MK. If in doubt, ask a CM. The boat is SUPER fast!
