How long does it take to get from CDG T2 to Marne la Vallee by RER?

Hi

We are thinking of taking the RER to DLP when we land at T3 at CDG on Friday (this week!! :cool1: ), and wondered is it easy to do with luggage (there's only 2 of us - no kids) and how long does it take?

And how much does it cost?
Is it cheaper than getting the VEA?

We land at T3 but will walk to T2 to get the RER to DLP.

I know we have to swap trains but that's not a problem for us.

Thanks

Is there a particular reason for choosing the RER, rather than the quick and direct TGV service? Unfortunately I can't really help with RER info, but you might find something helpful, by checking out some of the links in the "Travelling to DLP by Plane and Train" threads, in the Useful Info sticky at the top of the page.

Cost mainly.
I refuse to pay £32 for a ten minute train journey for us both, and then pay the same on the way back.

It just seems extortinate to me.

I think the VEA or RER are the most cost effective ways, but I thought maybe the RER would be cheaper than the VEA, but I am now thinking the VEA might be best for us as it seems easier.

Hi

You can walk from T 3 to the train station in about 5 mins. The RER to Marne la Vallee takes about 1 hour ...you will change at Chatelet les Halles. It can be a bit quicker if you get a train which doesn't make all the stops. It also depends on the wait at Chatelet les Halles (just cross the platform from the first train to wait for the second train), which can vary and can be up to 30 mins. This would make your total journey time 1 hour 30 mins.

We paid 56 euros for 4 adults, so for 2 adults it would be 28 euros.

I think the VEA is about 14 euros each and it is certainly quicker. I would choose the VEA every time, but sometimes the arrival times of the flight may be too late for the VEA, and then we have to take the RER.

Hope this helps!

You can't walk from T3 to the station at T2 - the shuttle bus is the only option. But the other RER station at the airport, is very easily walkable from T3. I presume they are both on the same line - it might be worth checking that one.

I think we will go for the VEA then.
Cheaper than TGV but easier and quicker than RER.

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2

The VEA costs 16 euros per person one way. Tickets are purchased directly from the bus driver, so make sure that you have enough euros for both of you. Also, we found out that the pick up location at the airport (at least where we were) was different from what the original signage at the airport stated. We had to back-track to the correct exit. Luckily, a VEA bus was just arriving and we were able to get on. The bus was pretty full. I would suggest that you go to the VEA website and print out the times that the bus picks up. Try to coordinate your flight with the bus times, otherwise you may wait another hour before another bus comes.

Happily this is not really a problem at Terminal 3. Just turn right when you leave the arrivals hall and keep walking until you see the sign. :)

We're going to take the RER from CDG Etoile to MLV Chessy in september. We will be arriving late at night, so I'm wondering if anyone knows how often the RER goes? Can we take it at night?

Choose MLV or CDG Etoile from the drop down list for the timetable - which currently seems to go up to the end of July, but I doubt things have changed much, and it should give you an idea of the times!!

I've never taken the TGV, always done the VEA. Can anyone confirm where the TGV station is and how much it is per adult per trip.

The TGV station is between Terminal 2D and 2F - see map here. Prices start from about £11 per person each way.

The journey itself is very quick, but check to see how well the times of the trains work with arrival time of your flight. You must allow yourself time to get to Terminal 2, but you also don't want to be waiting at the station for ages!
