I'm trying to plan our first evening. Our plane arrives at MCO at 4:57 pm. We are taking the MEARS shuttle to Port Orleans Riverside. At what time do you think we will be in our room?? I'm hoping for around 7pm but is that too optimistic? We want to see some of Downtown Disney or Pleasure Island and have dinner (isn't that just a short boatride away?) We also want to get back early and get some sleep so our first full day we will be rested.

What are yalls thoughts on time and activities for our first evening???

First, let me say I am not a fan of Mears. I prefer to take TTC. (I have done Mears, and let's just say it was not plesant and I saw far too much of the area before I got to my hotel!)

Travel time:
De-boarding the place (depends on where you sit and how many people ahead of you have tons of carry on!) (10-15 ninutes?)
Getting to the main terminal )10 min)
Getting your luggage (10-20 min - by the time you get to the terminal you should have a short wait for your lugage)
Getting your Mears voucher/checking in with Mears
Waiting for Mears to get a bus full.(15-30 minutes)
possibly taking a scenic tour on the way to your hotel
approx 40 min to hotel (directly to hotel)
checking into your hotel. Usually very efficient, depends on how many others gor off the plane with you!
Getting to your room (yeah, your here)

If you are having a great day, it will take 2 hours. But DTD is close to PO and I think you can still take the boat down. Check the lines, we usually take the bus down (we were always close to a bus stop, farther from the boat) and took the boat ride home. But you should be able to go down town and have some Disney fun. Just don't go shopping! ;)

;) ;)

What is TTC????

And, why not shop at Downtown Disney???

THanks!
Shari:confused:

TTC is Tiffany Town Car, great service!

Sorry for the bad joke. I said not to shop downtown because when i go, i am there for hours and I never make it an early night!!! Last time I was there, i was shopping for >30 minutes after the store closed. Never wil tell you when the store closes if you are inside. they let you wander and shop until you are done. And we never knew the store was closed, everyone was so nice and helpful! So if you want to take it easy and restful, stay out of the big Disney Store!;)

Oh! Thanks for the info... I'm going to look into Tiffany Town Cars... Anything will be fine as long as dh does NOT have to drive!!!!!

I though I might not need to shop downtown because the prices were higher or there would be better stuff elsewhere! I'm glad you explained that it was a time thing! *L*

The Downtown Disney store is great! They have SOOOO much stuff! If you aren't lookking for anything particular, there is always things on sale. I usually can find t-shirst for 12-14 on sale, sometimes less. Always check the side racks, can usually find something there on sale. (same things in parks, most places have something on sale). You can save alot by looking for sale items.

If you have an American Express card, bring it! The Downtown Disney Store ahs a 15% discount (or they did last time I was there in January) if you are staying on sight. That discount sure comes in handy! If no AMEX, Disney Club Card is a 10% discount.
Have fun (and I know what you mean about that driving thing!)
