How long does it take to disembark? Will we make our flight?

I'm trying to book our flights and can save about $200 by taking an earyl afternoon flight out of Orlando. It would leave at 1:15. Is this a dumb move? Would we be able to make it with time to spare or should I go for a later flight?

Thanks!:earsgirl:

I think you will make it...In the three times I cruised I think the latest that we got to the airport was about 11:30 ish.

No problems with a 1.15 flight, you have to be off the ship by 8.00. We have had flights at 11.30 before and had no problems.

Maybe, suggest to be absolutely sure, you get a cab from the port to the airport.

Disembarkation is real smooth and organised.

Have fun

Everyone offically has be off the ship the latest by 9:00 am but as soon as customs gives the OK to start disembarking you can leave....that can be anywhere from about 7:45 on.

DCL recommeds not booking flights home until at least 12:00 noon so you will be fine with your flight. Every once in a while the ship is delayed into port for one reason or another but you gave yourself plenty of time.

We always found the cheaper flights if we left in the evening on the return. 1:15 is a good time.

I live in Orlando and have cruised with Disney several times. Disney has the disembarking down to a science, so it will run smoothly and you will have no problems getting to OIA for that flight.
Enjoy your cruise...and the $200 savings!

DCL suggests that you not book a flight before noon. We've been at the airport as early as 9:15.

They want everyone off the ship by 9, claiming luggage and customs takes maybe 10 minutes. Then it is 45 minutes to the airport. If you have early seating, you will be off significantly sooner. If you have late seating, you can choose an early breakfast in Topsiders. Your dinner seating determines your breakfast time on the last day.

Generally disembarkation starts around 8...but that is up to Customs, not DCL.

We were off the ship and in the towncar by 8:05am last Saturday. We did Topsiders for breakfast.

We had one of the delayed days off the ship, not off until 9:15 am, and we got to the airport in plenty of time for a 12:35 pm flight.
The last folks didn't get off the ship until 10:15 that day, and we say some of them at the airport, and they were there by 11:30 am.

Really! Take the $200. We just got back yesterday. We had to hang around the Orlando airport until 3:55. I could have kicked myself for not taking the earlier flight at noon. However, I didn't know we were going to get kicked off the ship at 9:00. That was before I discovered the forums!

We had to be out of our rooms at 8:00. So, we left the ship about 8:10, got a shuttle to the airport and were there by 9:15. We had to babysit our luggage for nearly 3 hours before we could check them in (at 11:55) 4 hours early for our flight.

It was a wasted day for us. My relatives had to take an even later flight, so they booked a day room at the Hyatt and swam. It cost $80 but they split it between 3 families. They just used the room to shower and hold their luggage while they swam.
