BWV to MK during the "off season" (going the last week of this month!!!)?

How about from BWV to AKL? We have a 9:20am ressie at Boma. Then we'll hit AK (is it RIGHT there or do we have to take a bus from the Lodge to the park?) and then need to be back to BWL to catch ME to the airport around 2:30pm. Not sure how much time to budget for the bus ride!

Still debating renting a car since I found a cheap one. That way we'd grocery shop vs gardengrocer.com and we could drive to AK. Doubt we'd drive to MK.

Thanks for help with my transportation issues!

:) Can't help you with BWV to AK because we have never stayed there but we always give ourselves an hour travel time just in case. So I would try to be on the bus for Boma by 0830 at least. The bus from Jambo to AK park is about 5 min max, it is right there but you cannot walk to it, you have to ride the bus or drive.

If the car would be used for your entire trip, including to/from the airport, I'd go with the car. It does have a lot of advantages. I do agree with NOT driving to MK, take the bus!

There are no busses that run from resort to resort so if you want to go from BWV to AKL then you will need to take a bus or walk to one of the parks and then the AKL bus from the park to the resort.

Here's a link to a website that will give approx travel times from location to location.

I'd allow at least an hour to get from BWV to AKL.

BWV to AKL is not far, about 5-10 minutes. Definitely drive to AKL and then you can take the bus from there to AK. Give yourself an hr from the time you leave the park because during off peak hrs the buses don't run as frequently. We've waited as long as 30 minutes to pick up a bus from the park to our resort during off peak times. Then you'll still have to walk to your car and drive back to your resort.

Having a car will SAVE a lot of time but we do prefer to take WDW transportation to the parks as we have found it quicker than parking at some of the parks. Depending on where you park, you can have a 15 minute walk to the entrance or you may have to wait on the tram. But when going from resort to resort driving a car is definitely the quickest way.

I always get a car. A couple of years ago we took the BWV bus to MNSSHP around 5:00pm and it took over an hour. The bus stop was jammed, we didn't get on the first bus that came. Another bus came and had to unload and then load ECV's. Then stopped at Swan & Dolphin. I always drive to AK, DTD or to another resort. Plus we have to car to get groceries, go to the outlets. The rental price has really gone up in the past couple years but I still don't want to give up the car.

When asking about a car on a different thread I was told there may be a problem with parking at a resort and going to a park. My ressie is for breakfast but we'll be at the park until 2:30pm. Is it ok to keep a car at AKL the whole time?

And yes, we'd have the car for the whole trip. Take the car vs ME from the airport. Go get groceries the 1st night. Hmmm, maybe if we are very well prepared we can be all ready to go on our last day and go right from AK to the airport so we won't have to leave until 3:30 or so!

I would rent the car, especially if you are trying to pack in your last day. As already stated, getting from resort to resort is quite difficult. You always have to plan at least an hour for a bus, just in case you just missed one, etc. Usually about 30 minutes, but murphy's law will always come into play. AKL to AK is still a bus ride, but only about 10 minutes away....still have to plan it being 30-45 minutes to get there.

With the car, you can be early for your reservation, get in, eat head to AK (with car) do the park and leave directly for the airport.

AKL has a lot of parking, unlike other resorts near parks, so while officially not permitted, you could certainly ask at the guard house as you pull in.

But I doubt it would save you any time vs moving the car to the AK park parking lot, since you could still have a wait for a bus to/from AKL to AK. I'd just drive to the park, since as an onsite guest, you wouldn't have to pay for parking.

Oh ok, I didn't even think about driving to AK from AKL. Just assumed I'd have to pay and didn't know if it had a tram type of situation like MK.

I'll do that! I think I'm talked into getting a car! :)

When you check-in at BWV, they will give you a slip to put on your dashboard that indicates you are an onsite guest. Theme park parking in free :)

Thr bus from BWV to Mk this past week was pretty much every 20 minutes or so and the ride was about 20-25 minutes depending on whether there were EVCs or wheelchairs to be loaded or unloaded. It came to BW first and then Swan and finally Dolphin before heading to the MK. I agree with taking the car to AKL and the AK park. They do have trams from the lot to entrance but sometimes if it is early morning you can park close enough to walk in.
