How long do you keep your Christmas decorations up?

Christmas hasn't ended yet - we celebrate it all and take it down when it's over (Jan 6th usually).

I took everything inside down last night. I like how it all looks, love the season, but am just ready to have my house back in order. I'll get DH to take down the outside stuff by this weekend.

Me too. Christmas doesn't end until the Feast of the Epiphany.

I'm going to start taking everything down tomorrow.:thumbsup2 I want the house back to normal and be able to enjoy the weekend!

My Christmas decorations were put away two days ago.. thats right we started on the 26th, everything boxed up and put away by the 27th.

My stuff stays up till my birthday, which is Jan. 19. I loooove Christmas and it's like my birthday present to myself to have it up till then. :thumbsup2

took them down today.

Growing up they always came down within a few days after Christmas. The reasoning is that my birthday is on January 4th and my mom always though it would be nice to make it about me and not "Christmas/birthday combo."

edit: ha ha, and now I see the post above me is the opposite. :)

I started putting things away yesterday. It takes me a while to get the whole house back together and in order. I will take down the tree in the kids playroom and the small tree in the family room by this weekend. And DH will start taking down the outside stuff on Saturday too. Big tree in the living room will stay up until we return from WDW as we still have to celebrate Christmas with some family this weekend. That will come down the second weekend of Jan.

Well, a couple of my window lights fell off the windows today, so I think that's a clue that I should take everything down tomorrow.;)

Typically we put up the decorations/tree sometime Thanksgiving weekend. Then we take down either January 1st or the first weekend after the 1st depending on how much time we have on the 1st. Lately we've had a New Year's Day dinner at my mom's.

Now, the outside lights usually stay up until the snow melts, but we stop turning them on after January 1st. This year, we have no snow, so they might actually come down w/ the tree. This would be a first.

My MIL- has had her tree up for 13 months now-- yep-- they put it up in November of last year (2005) and still haven't taken it down. That goes for the tree, the garland, and all the indoors decorations. She was of the mindset her boyfriend put it up, he can take it down. My dh says if someone doesn't take it down by Easter this year-- he's saying something.

I used to keep it up until Jan. 2 but I took everything down today.

Well normally, we keep them up until after new years. But today, I had my surprise birthday party at a friend's house and I came home and everything besides the tree was down! :sad1: I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye! But, we are moving in about a month and a half so we need to start packing things up...sadly starting with the Christmas decorations I guess. The tree will probably stay up until about a week after new years, unless there are any more surprises!

You took your Christmas tree down on Christmas morning?!?!?!?!
Yep! I used to keep it up through January 1st when the kids were younger but for the last couple of years I've been taking everything down the day or so after Christmas. This year my daughter was busy with her new camera and my son and husband were busy putting together my new treadmill. I just felt like putting all the Christmas stuff away and had it done by 12:30 pm. My husband was a little shocked when he walked into the family room but since he doesn't help put it up or take it down.......

In a couple of years, once both kids are out of the house, I look forward to having a very, very small tree to decorate. As I've gotten older I put out less and less decorations. I would prefer just decorating my dining bureau and the fireplace mantel. It's for the kids that I keep putting up a tree.

I also feel that a tree without presents underneath it after Christmas looks so lonely and depressing. A tree before Christmas without presents doesn't bother me. Putting away everything feels good, I'm ready for the new year to begin.

Geez Louise! The Wise men haven't made it to visit the baby Jesus yet and the trees are coming down already!:scared1:
Holy cow! My family would dis-own me if I started ripping everything down so soon. LOL

Heck, we're still partying in our neck of the woods. :cool1: The last of the family went back home last night. :santa:

We'll take ours down sometime after the feast of the Epiphany.

It's still Christmas! Enjoy the season. Don't let the marketing machine fool you into believing that Christmas is over just because they started it WAAAAY back in October!
I was in Wally World yesterday and they have the Valentines out already.:sad2:
There's no stopping the marketing machine.:sad2:
