How long do you have to cancel w/ Disney?

We have never stayed on disney property before, but we would like to try it once. If we book a trip, is there a time frame for cancelling it? I am waiting for offers for November & waiting for my kids' school schedules as well......

Last year when they offered the buy 4 get 3 free deal, I camethisclose to booking AKL. I would love just once to stay there with a Savannah view. We couldn't swing it financially last year, but this year we could if it was offered again. I dont want to book it hoping for a discount & then not get the discount & be stuck footing the bill on a trip I can't afford.....

Someone correct me if I'm wrong..............

When you book you are required to put down a $200.00 deposit on a package with the balance due 45 days prior to arrival. If you fail to cancel on day 45 and can't go you lose your deposit. If you cancel on day 45 or earlier you get your deposit back.

If you book room only, I believe you pay one nights deposit and the balance is due upon arrival.
