How Long Do Discounts Last?

I am interested specifically in the Canadian Resident Discount considering our dollar is low. My husband will not know when he gets his vacation for next summer until the end of October (or possibly the first week of November). I would like to book one of of the dates for the July cruises to Alaska but I am concerned if he doesn't get the dates we need. Just wondering if anyone knows how long these offers tend to last?

If I were you, I'd book one (or two and cancel one). You could wait until the end of Oct, but the available rooms might not be as plentiful. Also, if it's a successful sale, you might miss out.

Can you afford to book multiple cruises and then cancel the ones you don't want before the cancellation fees start?

Not sure if you have a credit card but you could in theory charge all the cruises? Worst case you get hit with a small non-full payment interest?

They last until they're taken, so it's anyone's guess when they'll disappear.

If you can afford to put a deposit on more than one, and then cancel the one you decide you don't need, a suggestion....

Since the Canadian $ fluctuates so much and add to that the foreign exchange fees your CC charges you, there is a good chance you will loose some $ between what you were charged when you put down the deposit and what your refund is.

To avoid this, when you cancel you can CALL DCL and ask them to cancel the one cruise BUT APPLY THE DEPOSIT AMOUNT TO THE OTHER CRUISE.

It takes them a few days to sort it as they have to do some behind the scenes magic to make it happen, but they are able to do it. If the CM says they can't, ask to speak with a supervisor.

FWIW, they can also do this with WDW hotel reservations, at least as long as you are in the same "category" (i.e. room only to room only).
