Hi guys

So 2 weeks ago we received our marriage license info via email, we had it notarized and sent back 1st class post (we are from the UK).

I emailed the lady at the courthouse yesterday - very helpful lady - and she said it has not yet arrived. Should i be worried?? Can anyone advise how long mail usually takes??

I am slightly concerned as we spent a fair amount of money getting a notary and arranging a bankers draft, if it doesnt arrive in time we will be soooo dissapointed. We really wanted to avoid a trip to the courthouse when we arrive :(

Anyone had any experience of this?

Thanks x

I know of at least 2 other UK brides who've had this trouble recently. I'm inclined not to recommend the mail-away license for UK couples anymore, just because any postal delays can be a huge deal when you only have a 60-day window on the license. :(

Thanks Lurkyloo, i didnt realise other people have had problems doing it this way. Its just a shame as we spent probably around £100 in the end and up to now it seems as though it was for nothing.

I remember when we sent our contract off to DFTW it took a good few weeks, i should have learnt from that! Never mind, we have 3 weeks left so with any luck it will still turn up

Thanks x

We did ours by email all we had to do was scan in our passports (which i did on works photocopier) and attach them to the form online - payment was by paypal so easy peasy.
They are getting a notary to meet us at our disney resort at 8:30 am the day after we arrive - they said it would take 2 mins just to cross reference our passports with our faces and signatures.
I am previously married and they have assured me that they dont need my divorse papers (im taking them anyway - just in case).
If all else fails then do it online... it's instant and as i say they can send someone to you to do the legal stuff - so it doesnt take any time out of your trip - xx good luck with it all though, you must be so giddy... we get married 8 weeks today and I am beside myself :) x

Wow i didnt realise you could do it this way, thanks for the info!!

I have emailed the courthouse to ask what are options are. I have asked if it is possible they could send the license to our Disney hotel (to save time on them posting it back to us in the UK). The lady said they still havent even received it yet, goodness knows where it has got to, we sent it nearly 3 weeks ago!

Yes we are getting excited now, will be more so when we get this sorted out!ha

Thanks x

I believe the previous poster used a paid service for her license rather than the free service available through Brevard County. Brevard is not going to send anyone to your hotel, although they may be able to accommodate your request to mail the license to your hotel instead of to your home.

Thank you for clearing that up, it still seems easier that way than the hassle we have had. I certainly wont be recommending anyone does this by post, it is the single most important thing of the day and its been the most hard work!
My goodness i dont know how people get married 2 or 3 times, i am heading for a breakdown with just the 1!! :rotfl: x
