How long did it take YOU to receive your luggage via ME?

My in-laws are arriving the same day as us, but their plane lands at 8:55 pm. We've only ever arrived by 1 pm at the latest, so we have no experience with a "later" arrival. We want them to be able to use the ME luggage service to keep their life more simple, but I don't want them waiting forever and a day for their bags.

I know that ME's policy is that it can take up to 3-4 hours for your bags to arrive in your room, and I know that ME will pick up bags as long as you land before 10 pm. I get the "policy", but I want to know PERSONAL experience on how long it takes for bags when you have arrived later in the evening. Has anyone arrived late and gotten their bags quickly?

They are coming from Washington state, so it will be 3 hours earlier in their bodies. I don't imagine them going right to bed at 10, but who knows? Just wanted to know what to expect.

Thanks!

You know 10p is cutoff time. We don't know if luggage is held for one final run. We dont know when or if they hold for a final run. We don't know if the OPs plane will be delayed. They can ask to have their luggage held until morning.

I don't think you can draw useful information from this thread

Way too many variables. If they land, ontime, at 8:55, that gets them to the resort by 10ish. Now, the bags, we are told (and as you know) should arrive up to 3-4 hrs after RESORT checkin..not MCO arrival. Worst case scenario would be that the bags get to their room by 1-2am!!
Now, the resort they are staying at is going to make a difference also. The value resorts have very slow bag delivery. And it is almost non-existent after 10pm!!! The other resorts are much better.

Now, your inlaws could get their bags before midnight...even by 11. But there is just no way of knowing. I would recommend that they take anything they need for the night with them, in their carry-bags. When they get to the resort, they can ask that their checked bags be held until the next morning (if they wish). Then they can hang out the 'privacy please' thing on their door. They can get their bags very early the next morning if they want. Or, they can wait up for the bags to arrive that night. Since they will 'feel' like it's only 6ish, when they land, they may not mind staying up a bit.

I tend to agree that the responses you get aren't going to be all that helpful.

We've arrived after 9:00 p.m. but before 10:00 p.m. a couple of times and I've asked them to hold our bags for morning delivery and they've done that. They ask what time we want it delivered. I usually request 7:00 a.m. delivery and they are there with the bags right about then.

When we arrive before 9:00 p.m. I have had personal experience with finding the bags in my room when we return from the parks, so who knows when they were delivered, and have not had the bags delivered by midnight, when I call the front desk of the resort and ask that they be held. That has worked.

If they want to use the luggage delivery service, just use it. Make sure they have what they need for at least 24 hours in their carry on bags (which they should do anyway because the airlines misdirect bags all the time) and, if they feel the wait is too long and they want to go to bed, they should have success with calling to request that the bags be held until the morning.

:thumbsup2 This.

I typically don't wait in my room for my bags to show up, so I can't give you a time frame. I usually go out and do something, and when I get back to my room a few hours later, my bags are there. Love it!

We fly from the West Coast so we also arrive in the evening. Usually we have a late dinner in Epcot and do not get back to our room until around 11 PM. We'll probably be up until midnight so if the 4 hour window is no later than that we're willing to let bell services deliver our luggage. There was only one time when it wasn't delivered after 4+ hours so we called bell services. It turned out our luggage was there so they brought it up immediately. If not, we would have asked that it be held until the next morning.

Overall, every experience is going to be different. We pack everything we'll need the next day in a carry on just in case our luggage isn't delivered. With a 9 PM arrival I wouldn't count on getting luggage delivered that night.

You can also take your luggage yourself into the ME and you don't have to wait for delivery. We didn't arrive at the hotel until after 10p then our luggage was sent to the wrong room. We were trying to be patient but after working a whole day and being up 22 hours, we called before 2am and it took them forever to find our luggage. I could tell the Bellman was unhappy how late it was and complained it was because i changed room but we didn't, but i have to admit i did try for a little pixie dust. Lesson learned, just taking my own bag if i need it in the next six hours!

This. We are arriving in the morning on our next trip and based on the experience we had with luggage delivery the last time we went (:furious:), I am going to go get our bags and take them with us to ME. If it looks like a timing issue, I would have one person go to ME and get you checked in and the other go get the bags and use a luggage cart if need be.

Thanks for all the replies. I will give them their options and let them decide. We always arrive mid-day, so we're never around when the bags come. They just "magically" appear. :) I want things to be smooth for them, but it might be easier to just pick up their bags themselves and be done with it. They may try to go to bed early to adjust to Eastern time anyway.

Thanks again!
