How long did it take you to get pregnant?

My husband jokingly says, "long enough to pass each other in the hallway!"

We were blessed with our 3rd child while I was on BC. My husband is now officially out of action. I made his appointment and took him to be sure!

TTC for 12 months and counting...

If it doesn't happen this month, the Dr. will consider putting me on Clomid.

#1 No b/c for 4 years, 2 1/2 years of trying with infertility treatments. Disgnosed with PCOS, treated with Metformin, found out I was PG three weeks later.

#2 was born less than 12 months later, never had a period, was nursing and was told I couldn't get PG without medication.

For everyone trying, good luck to you. I know how difficult it is to go through infertility treatments. It's heartbreaking. I remember crying on the way home from work every night feeling guilty because I couldn't make DH a father. I feel incredibly blessed now that I have two beautiful and healthy DD's.

10 monthes with DS
6 monthes with DD

DH's cousin & her husband tried for about 4 or 5 years with fertility treatments & all, never got pregnant. She finally excepted the fact that she wouldn't have kids, turned 40 & GUESS WHAT?? She got pregnant.

5 monthes is really not a long time, DH & I said that we would give it a year & then see a DR. I was starting to worry, but the 10th month was it. I knew before I ever took the test, I was sick, sick, sick!!!

I have been trying for about a year now for #2. I have been feeling a little queezy the past few days, so maybe it worked! ;) My DD took 5 months, but I was 11 years younger then. :D It's harder as you get older.

It took 4 months before I bought one of those ovulation test kits and found out that I ovulate 14 days after the start of my period rather than 12 days which is when I was trying.

Both kids, I got pregnant the first time we tried. We had thought 2 years apart would be a good space, so when DD was about 15 months old, we stopped "preventing", thinking it would take a while. I knew I was pregnant within a week (Xmas eve baby!), and din't drink at the New Year's Party we went to. I was convinced that something would happen to the baby until I was about 6 months along. Everyone I knew had either had a hard time getting pregnant, or lost a baby, and here we got pregnant the first time each time! Everything turned out fine though.

Thanks for all the responses! I am not worried yet, it is just uncharted territory with me since DS was a "surprise"

My heart goes out to all of you with fertility issues. I just can't even imagine!

I tell my husband it must be him since I have proven myself! (just kidding of course) Well, maybe I will take a "souvenir" home from my cruise this month...

With ds #1--I was on the pill so it didnt take anytime at all, lol
Ds #2--it took just a few months off the pill to get pg
Ds #3--we had some secondary infertility--took 4 yrs (had mc prior to getting pg with him)
Ds #4--took 18 months and laproscopic surg

dh and i haven't prevented a pregnancy from the very beginning (he's 31 and i'm 30). after 2 years of no success, i devoured the book taking charge of your fertility. we charted for a few months, but the problem is my irregularity. i can go 6 months with no cycle. so i finally got myself to a doctor earlier this year. we did clomid twice, i ended up having a medical crisis right in the middle there, so we took a break. we wanted to make sure that everything was alright before pressing forward. we've taken clomid 2 more cycles now. my doctor wanted to "maximize" my cycles, so in addition to the clomid, i have taken estrogen and progesterone. talk about a hormonal roller coaster!!

this will be the last cycle my doctor will give me clomid. i'm praying it works!!

scarlett873 - are you seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist? Is he/she doing ultrasounds each cycle to see your eggs? Have you been tested for PCOS?

I was treated with Clomid for unexplained infertility for a long time. The RE recommended injectable medications which would have cost me $1200 per month :earseek: .

I had read an article on PCOS and the symptoms sounded familiar to me. I researched it on the internet and asked my Dr. if I had been tested. He said he assumed I had, but when he checked his records, I hadn't. I had the test on Dec. 31, got the results on Jan 6, started Metformin on Jan 7 and found out I was PG on Jan 28.

I did have some progesterone issues with that PG but have a healthy almost 5 year old now.

I hope you have good luck!
