How long can you keep frozen meat?

I think I'm going to have to throw out a lot of meat in my freezer. I came across a ziploc bag with german short ribs that I repackaged...date 9-18-06! Guess that's too old to eat, huh? We had some beef the other day that must have been old b/c it tasted kind of old. I didn't realize that it had been so long since I bought meat. We go through chicken more, I guess. I buy the big bags of Tyson frozen chicken breasts from costco a few times a year.

Anyway, if anyone knows how long meats last in the freezer, I'd appreciate it! TIA!

you're right! probably not! trash day is thursday, so I guess I'll be cleaning out the freezer!

If I find anything a bit old I generally find a way of cooking that uses a lot of liquid and flavours! But I did throw away a couple of trout the other day which were covered in snow
