How long can we stay after our 11AM Checkout?

Our flight does not depart until 5PM Hawaii time on checkout day. This is a red-eye flight that has us land at 6AM in Chicago.

While we check out at 11AM, I don't really want to head to the airport at that time--they won't even take our checked bags until 4 hours before our flight.

I understand most places will watch your luggage, but if our goal is to use the water-based amenities at Aulani, that it might be a pain to have to try and repack a bunch of wet swimsuits and other pool toiltres into our suitcase. I suppose I should ask if we can even use the pool facilities on check-out day?

That being said, any activities anyone can recommend to kill time before going to the airport?

You have full access to resort amenities (other than your room) on check-out day. That includes the laundry room, which you could use to dry your bathing suits if you'd like.

I'm not sure what you mean by "pool toiletries," but if it means sunscreen, just throw it out if it's close to empty, or give it away to someone checking in if it's still full.

You can stay as long as you like, but they rarely if ever offer late checkout. So you will exit the room by 11am and leave your luggage with bell services until you are ready to leave for your flight.

At the resort
You can do pool day and use the lounge for changing (I personally dont recommend this but many like to do it)

You can do the resort tours if available that day.

You can do the iPad hunt thing (cant remember the name)

You can do your shopping at the gift shops at the resort or wander across the street to those shops.

You can have lunch.

Outside the resort.
This has become our favorite way to spend checkout day.

Book an excursion from KoOlina lagoon nearby. Many are very affordable.

You can use the pool and do other resort activities all day on your check out day. The Luana Lounge would allow you to change and shower after the pool and before heading to the airport. I think you still need a reservation, but they're easy to get by asking at the front desk. For wet swimsuits, the lounge has a swimsuit dryer. This plus a plastic bag is usually fine to get it home. If you want, you could use the laundry rooms to wash them.

I’m just back from 6nts at Aulani. The Luana lounge does not require a reservation. I, too, flew the red eye home to Chicago (7pm flt). You need to be at the airport 2.5 hours ahead, so with a 5pm flt, you’d need to leave Aulani by 2pm. That gives you 3 hrs from 11am checkout to leaving the resort at 2pm. The activities others listed above are all good suggestions.

Thanks for the tips. We also have a red eye flight home, and I was meaning to ask the same question. I knew bell services would hold our luggage, but didn't know for sure if there were something like Luana Lounge to clean up after another pool day.

I mean you definitely don't need to be at the airport 2.5 hours ahead of a domestic flight.

Meh. Its really just a place to be thats not with everyone else. For us not worth the walk over.
We went to the HNL AAdmirals Club, so have no experience with the Ko Olina Lounge. I wanted to put it out there as an option for the OP.

Oh the AA lounge is a whole different thingl. KoOlina is just another area of the airport to sit in not what one would think when hearing airport lounge.

So still no food? The hostess last time made it seem like the lack of food was a temporary thing and she blamed covid.

I don't think anyone mentioned it but they start taking reservations for the Luana Lounge at 6AM on the day you checkout. You will be assigned a 1 hour timeslot in the lounge.

We were at Aulani last week. While there, I specifically asked if a reservation was needed for Luana Lounge and was told “No”.
