How long can they put off the DVC announcement for the CR?

How far is construction gonna get before they make an announcement? Could it be put off indefinitely? Could the construction be completed and 'rooms' be available with still no word about DVC? Just trying to understand how it all works. Never been interested in a DVC property that was under construction before. Actually, this is my first interest in a DVC property. ;) And, please, don't tell me that this may not be a DVC property as Disney has not announced it as such. We all know it will be!

Now that I've posted this, I've come to realize I should have posted it somewhere on the DVC boards. Oops. Oh, MOD?????

They could actually finish the exterior....and even finish all the rooms prior to announcing this as DVC. If it is DVC it wouldn't make sense for them to wait much longer than that....ideally in the true business model they would like to sell rooms as they finish completion. I would venture they will actually finish or be close to finish of the exterior prior to announcing...there is no reason to announce earlier when they still have exisiting inventory. They cannot close on a DVC contract until the room is actually "available"....but they can do pre-sales once the structure is 70% complete.

Thanks, TisBit! That's exactly what I wanted to know.

Assuming intent is to make it DVC, they have an incentive not to do it yet so as not to affect AKV sales. Thay can wait until the building is done and to shortly before getting final occupancy approval and permit. In the past all were announced before construction even began. However, before SSR, they did not do pre-sales.

I'm only interested in a MK DVC resort. That's why I'm holding out. I don't like AKL or SSR.

Just remember.....

...there have been DVC resorts announced that were never built.

Just FYI...............

There IS a MK area DVC already available in the VWL.

I really don't think DVC will make any announcement about CRV (if it is indeed that) until SSR is sold out and Kidani village is open and at least partially sold out. Since I don't think they are selling anything for Kidani yet, that could be quite awhile yet.

My opinion is that they will build the new CR tower and use it first as a stand alone addition to the CR. Then a year or two down the road (when Kidani is well on it's way to a sell out), they will "convert" the suites in the tower to DVC. Even though I think we all know DVC is the original intent of this building, I don't see them acually announcing or selling it until Kidani is well on its way to completion and selling out.

I don't see this happening, because there is little benefit to DVC at that time. I doubt outfitting rooms as Hotel than converting in a just a couple of years will actually pay itself off.

Once the facility is ready, there is no reason not to sell it. It won't affect AKV at that point....Disney doesn't care "where" you buy, but rather that you just buy. Right now there are people....OP for example....that will not buy if they know for sure that CRV is coming. Many people that are buying now don't even know of a possible CRV, so there is no reason to wait. Once they announce, it will be listed on their site, in their books, etc which would be more of a factor for potential buyers. :upsidedow

the frog implied the annoucement would be this may.

so here is to May. :yay: :woohoo:

but no guaranteeds we all know Disney to change its mind.

that say with the economy looking bad - it has increased (to me anyway) the chances of it becoming a DVC resort.

besides if it was just an addition to the CR - the annoucement would be made already.

It is not like they can hide that thing.

I've heard the reference before here, so what/who is "the frog"? :surfweb:

I agree that if it was just an extension to the hotel, why wouldn't they have just said that from the beginning??

I agree with your assessment....especially the part about using the bldg. for cash/hotel and then switching to DVC rooms a short while later. I cannot see that happening either. I will NOT add on at all until they announce what that building is. If I have to wait years, then I will wait years. My hope and feeling is that once the shell is complete (or almost so) pre-sales will begin. Incidently, how did the pre-sales at SSR work? Anyone? popcorn::

I agree with TisBit. It just seems the most logical. As for the VWL....had I known about DVC when they were being sold I would have bought then as the WL is may favorite resort. I didn't really learn about DVC until last Oct when we did the orientation. Also, I want the full 50 year contract. My understanding is that if I bought a resale, I wouldn't get that. I won't settle for a resort I'm not interested in just to get into DVC. I'm holding out for what I want. The CR is a great alternate option to the WL. As long as I'm at a MK resort, I'll be happy. :thumbsup2

When I said "convert", I put it in quotes to show that the DVC portion would be used for CRO ressies only first, and then opened up for sales as DVC later. I never meant they would change anything about it, and I think it is a very reasonable thing for them to do.

Why make a news flash when it is not going to happen:confused3

If it was going to happen they would have made some sort of announcement by now.

Tis Nothing but A dream.

What was the name of the golf resort at dvc that never came after they anounced it
