Ok, so do the luggage tags have your resort name on them? Or at what point will my DH have to find out that we are going to POFQ instead of Pop Century, where he thinks we are going? Will we have to tell our Disney motorcoach driver which resort to take us to? Or GET ON a coach specifically designated to go to POFQ resort?

At what point will it be obvious to him that we are not going to POP?

I was wondering the same thing! My extended family also thinks we are staying in separate rooms at POP Movies but we are going to stay in a 2 bedroom suite at OKW!! I can't wait from them to find out...but want it to be when we step foot into OKW. (My dad will fret about the expense if he has time to think about it!) I thought I would hide the tags and put them on as we are checking luggage (everyone is used to me taking charge so circling the luggage and taking are of check in would not be a real issues. But we will have to choose a ME bus when we get to the airport. Right?

bumping, someone out there has to know the answer to this

I'm looking at my tags. They are bright yellow & say Yacht Club in bold type.
The are also blue mickey heads on them which means I am in the "blue zone" for drop off. The directions on the cover state to put them on your checked luggage at your departure airport.

It's my understanding that when you check your luggage at your departing airport you do not see it again until it is delivered to your resort. So unless someone is helping you put on the tags, they probably won't notice the name of the resort on the tag.

jjohnson, thank you for the info. :( Unfortunately for me, that means that my DH will probably learn about the switcheroo at our home airport, or possibly even our home before leaving for the airport! He has to be ultra involved in the luggage checking in process and would freak if anyone besides him tried to take over.

If DH doesn't see you putting the baggage tags on and seeing the resort name on the tags, at Orlando Airport he will see where you are headed when you queue up for the resort specific buses in the POFQ line.

If you want to schlep your bags yourself from the carousel (perhaps on the B side middle level up across the main terminal and down to the A side lower level, you can peek outside every now and then when looking for bus space #30) to the Magical Express area you can hide the ME tags saying [we] never got them, and DH won't see the resort name quite so soon.

Let's start a fad! Make up 3x5 index cards each with (the same) 3 digit number of your choice in large print. Plaster two on each of your suitcases. Should luggage be misplaced and you need to describe the suitcases to a CM, or other customer service person, you can mention the 3 digit number. You should still include the rest of the description and your name just in case the card fell off.

Could you have DH do all of the packing as usual and slip the luggage tags on at the last minute when you check your bags at the airport? (Maybe this would only work if you all are as stressed out and distracted when checking bags as we are).

Blu Orchid,

I hope you figure out a way to keep it a secret...lol...you could always make something up, such as "I received the wrong tags so I just called Disney...it seems they have to route all the Pop Century luggage through Port Orleans until October 4th (or whatever date seems right)...as long as the color of the tag is (insert the actual color of the POFQ tags) though, we'll be fine since all the (whatever the color is) tags will be sent to Pop, even though they're labled POFQ...honey would you double-check the tags to see if they are (whatever the color is) so the bags will get on the right bus?

Lol...I know it sounds nuts, but if you're a good actress you can pull it off! Just act authoritative and as if you're doing exactly what Disney has told you to do.

If that works...then you have to figure out how to get him on the right bus LOL! use your imagination!

Well this may go against your morals, but if he notices the resort name on the ME luggage tags, you could say something like:
"yeah, they printed the wrong resort name on the tags, but I called ME and they said everything would be fine since they go be the actual reservation number on the tags which they scan when they pull the luggage from baggage claim"
This could buy you a little time, but depending on how good your poker face is your husband may get suspicious.

Good luck, at least it will still be a suprise even if he finds out early!

If it's worth a lot to you, just skip ME alltogether for the trip down. Get a towncar and tell the driver on the sly what is going on. That way he won't have any idea until you start going down the wrong road right at WDW.

It's less money than you might think :)

ozymoe and grumpyngoofy, those are great ideas!!!

I have always claimed to be a good actress, this will definitely put my skills to the test! :goodvibes

Thank you both!!!

BluOrchid2,

When I switched our reservation from PO-R to Poly the CM told me that the luggage tags would still say PO-R and not to worry about it because they would still be delivered to the correct resort (he didn't say how they would know but I assume it is from the reservation number). I actually liked this because my wife doesn't know that I switched resorts. However, now I am in the same position you are because when I received the ME package two days ago the luggage tags do say Poly and not PO-R. I am going to have to see if I can get the tags on the luggage at the airport without her noticing what they say :scratchin

If you really want to do it :

1) Don't use those horrid tags. Toss 'em. Get your OWN luggage at the airport (like normal people, hehe) and then go to the ME bus. You don't have to use the luggage service - AND you get to keep your luggage with you (under the bus) instead of waiting hours for it to show up at the resort.

2) Write POFQ on a slip of paper. When you get to the ME people and they ask, show them the piece of paper and either write on it "Shh! It's a secret" or tell them verbally.

DH will probably know something is up, but you could extend the suspense by doing it this way...

Good luck!

N.E.D.
