I just booked mama melrose for 10/3 at 5:50. Is this a good time? Does this leave us enough time to eat and get there early? Or am I too early and will have extra time? What do you think?

it depends on what time fantasmic is being presented that night... also, are you doing the fantasmic dinner package w/the "guaranteed" seating?

Did you just book this today??? Again the one day I don't call and more times open up. Just my luck!!!!

Yes, I just booked it today. I've been trying to get in for months. No times available two days ago.

Fantasmic is at 8:00 on this night. I did not book the package, it wasn't available.

a 5:50 dinner ADR gives you less than two hours to get to fantasmic... i would say you'd need to go earlier so as to be done dinner, walk thru the park and get to the theatre before all the seats are gone... remember, just because you have a 5:50 ADR does not mean you will be seated at 5:50 w/your order taken before 6pm! it's very likely you won't even be seated 'til 6:15-6:30! that is cutting it close!

my advice would be to head to the restaurant early (what time do they open for dinner?) and tell the cm that you are checking in early for your ADR... quite often they are able to seat you sooner than your ADR time, which will give you time to eat and get seats over at fantasmic...

good luck and ENJOY! :flower:

Wow! I think it is cutting it close too. We ate there at at 4:20 PS were seated by 4:25 did get out till 6:15, rushed to get on TTT and over to Fantasmic for 6:30p had to be there by that time as part of the dinner package. Hopefully, you'll seat quickly and still get a decent seat at Fantasmic in time. Best of Luck!

I've always had a package ADR for Fantasmic about 2 hours before the show. I've never felt rushed at all.

Just make sure you arrive early for your time and if you are seated by 6:00p you should be just fine. It usually takes about an hour or so to eat and they say to go to the special entrance (if you are doing a package) by 45 minutes before.

Now, if it's not a package, then I'm not 100% sure if that's enough time because I do not know how early you are suppose to wait in the regular line for Fantasmic.

Either way, IMHO, you should be done at MM by 7:15p.

Good luck.

Thanks! Don't know how I missed that....I guess I'm too excited about Disney tomorrow!! :cool1:

I'm curious now. If you do not have a package this time of year (Sept/Oct) how early do you have to line up then for the regular line?

Anyone know?

Can someone please explain to me how the Fantasmic "Dinner Package" works? Any details would be appreciated!
Thanks...

tomorrow?! did you say TOMORROW?! oooh, i am soooo insanely jealous! ENJOY! :flower:

we were there late aug/early sept and arrived about 40 mins before show time (w/out FDP) and got great seats, on an aisle, in the center about halfway up... there were still "decent" seats available 20 mins later... hth!

We went three years ago in October and showed up for Fantasmic about an hour ahead of time. We had great seats, had just bought new light-up toys for the kids for them to play with, got snacks and had a great time at the show!

We will be there again this year (leaving tomorrow, by the way!!!) and hope to do the same. I don't know if anything has changed drastically in the last three years. Our ressies at Mama Melrose's are at 5:50 also on 10/1.

shana, there is a thread "stuck" at the top of the restaurant board that gives all the details... the basic premise is that you eat at one of the three eligible restaurants, one a buffet (H&V), two w/pre-set menus (MM and BD), and you receive a pass to Fantasmic that guarantees you seating in a certain section of the theatre (to the right of the stage)... during busier times this is a good deal (the meal does not cost more) because it saves you from having to arrive an hour+ before the show to hold your seats... in slower times it's probably not necessary and you can get better seats on your own...

So I guess my 4:30 package at MM isn't too bad. I was going to try for later, but I couldn't get anything past that. The show is at 7:30. Anyone have any experience? Will this be too early?

Do you think next Wednesday night (Oct. 5) will be one of those 'slower times' when FDP doesn't help much? If we do FDP and find that our 'reserved' seats aren't as good as the regular seats, can we just change seats?

Thanks! Hey, we're both leaving tomorrow! Too funny!

I'm going to try Fantasmic without the package on Friday but my ADR is 6:30p at Sci Fi. I don't think we're going to make it but we'll try. If not, we'll give up Wishes/Spectro Saturday to try for Fantasmic that night. Dinner that night is at 4:30p at Epcot so that's plenty of time.

We've always done the package but my DDs really wanted to try Sci Fi and that was the only time I could get.

you could but really i don't think there would be any seats that bad unless there is a pole or something in your way

Thanks. Fantasmic (or even MGM!) didn't exist last time I went to Disney, so I'm a first-timer for that park and really have no idea what to expect!

Thanks for the explanation gigi1313! Guess that wouldn't help us anyway...we are eating at 50's Primetime...our first time eating there!
Thanks, again!

Been trying for a couple of weeks to get the FDP and everthing's been booked solid for almost every day of our trip. Just called and checked on Friday 10/8 and she said I had my choice of times (at H & V) from 5:10 on???? I must admit, although the CM was very nice, it seemed like her "first day" on the job. I was asking her how early I needed to eat for the show and she said it's up to you. At first I thought she was just giving me a regular seating and not the package but after asking for the CC number, etc. she confirmed the dinner package. I made it for 5:20. Considering the show is 7:30(?) I think I may be cutting it close. I will probably change to 5 if possible. I am definitely going to call tomorrow to confirm. I just find it really strange how everything suddenly opened up. Maybe I just timed it right?!
