I have a friend who has been wavering on purchasing DVC and she asked me - how long after signing the contract do they have to back out if necessary? I thought it was 30 days, thought I'd check here to see if anyone can verify.
TIA!

She should look at her contract. Our resale contract said ten days upon signing a contract, from date of signing, and would need to send written notification.

Florida allows a timeshare buyer (DVC or any timeshare) a 10 calendar day window from the day they sign the contract to cancel without penalty. If the buyer cancels after 10 days, the buyer would be subject to penalties. The contract becomes binding after the 10 day window has passed.

As mentioned - 10 days. And if they are having any questions and are still in the cancellation window they probably ought to rescind. They can always start the purchase again if they do decide it's a good idea for them after giving it more thought and investigation. But once it's a done deal the only option is to sell if it wasn't a good idea.

10 days for FL, some states vary. This assumes they follow the rules and put the recision length in the contract, if not, then it's a year. In addition they need to make sure the contract has a clear closing date and requirements, there are other situations where they could back out if the contract is violated.
