How long are your Disney World trips???

On average, how many nights is your typical continuous stay at Disney?

We started out doing a 3 night trip way back when, next trip, 5 then 7 and now I think the sweet spot (for my family) is 8-10 nights. We go in September (our other sweet spot for everyones vacation time).

I currently do 3 10 day trips each year in Jan, May and Oct. Changing a bit next year as I have two cruises planned.

More often than not we stay 5 or 6 nights - over 65% of our WDW trips.

Flew down for as little as a 2 night trip (D23 Tron preview). Longest was 8 nights a few times.

We seem to get more done during 5-6 nights than 7-8 nights 😂 Too much lollygaggin’ thinking there’s plenty of time!

I’ve really only been a few times, and I plan to go 9-13 days most of the time, but I did write up the ideal scenarios…

Ideal trips

6 Days (not often)
  • Sun-Fri - 5 nights (0 Weekend Nights)
  • 4 Day Hopper

9 Days (most common)
  • Sat-Sun - 8 nights (3 Weekend Nights)
  • 7 Day Hopper (6-8 day hopper)
  • Best use of time off work

13 Days (full vacation)
  • Sun-Fri - 12 nights (2 Weekend Nights)
  • 10 Day Hopper
  • Best use of points

20 Days (retirement trips)
  • Sun-Fri - 19 nights (4 Weekend Nights)
  • 14 Day Hopper (UK)

We started off as 6-7 night trips back in 2010, then as school schedules got more intense, we did 4-5 nights 2-3 times a year. Last year, we did our first 8 night trip as a family, and then 4 nights just DH and I. This year it will be 7 nights with the fam. I would say the sweet spot is 7-8 nights for us. Due to college schedules, internships and differing school breaks in 2026 for my kids, we will probably do 4-6 nights for a couple of years. The cost has also gotten much more with the LLMP and LLSP, so my "spending money" budget has gone up quite a bit and going as frequently is decreasing.

Many, many years ago the trips with my parents were along the lines of 6 nights/7 days every 18 months to 2 years apart. That was before DVC. Then the trips became a yearly thing for a while and we usually stayed 7 nights. Mom and Dad are gone. I have the DVC. We go every couple of years and stay around 10 nights when we go. If I add another trip with one of my siblings, the stays are shorter.

This last one was only 4 nights but it was last minute and after I had already banked my points for the year. I had to borrow and add OTUPs to do the 4 nights in a 1BR. That's not going to be a routine thing.

Right now we are doing one trip a year typically about 10-14 days. We live on the West coast right now so flights are hard on us. It's a solid amount of time that lets us do everything we could want for that trip between park days, restaurants and hitting after hours events.

We had been bouncing between Halloween and Christmas but we went earlier then normal this year so we could go with my sister, going in August and getting lucky to hit the first Halloween party. the plan now is to hit Christmas time of 26 so I'm looking at a longer then normal FOMO period which I hate.

Hoping if/when we make it back to the east coast we are able to do more trips for shorter times throughout the year.

We do not own a ton of points. We always did Sun- Thursday, 5 nights. Avoiding the weekend point hike and park crowds.

When kids were younger we would drive down from NJ and stop along the way. And a stop on the way home, to extend the vacation.

Recently I was there for 7 nights, but that doesn't happen often.

My family did a lot of cruise with a WDW stay, as well as a VB trip added on.

We do an 8 night trip 1x per year and then other shorter trips the rest of the year. For this year I’ve done the 8 nighter, a 5 nighter, and a 4 nighter lined up for November.
Next year we have an 8 nighter and a 5 nighter already planned and we’ll see what we want to do with the rest of our points.

Is that many single night stays?
Mostly 2 night stays, but this year we did five single night stays - one we split a two night stay to two separate one night stays to take advantage of the water park on two different weekends, one because we can't get a second night added to copper creek in December coming up, and the other two were for specific one night reasons.
