how long are DP credits good for?

I am thinking of doing the DP for part of our stay. We are switching hotels, so I can do it, it is not a length of stay issue.

Example, get 3 adults 1 kid DP for 2 days, share meals and use the remainder after I check out?

Or is it a use them or lose them situation?

It's use them or lose them through midnight of your checkout of the hotel that you have the DDP. If you move to a Disney hotel and you do not have the DDP, you cannot transfer unusued credits, under the rules.

They say it's good until midnight the day of check out - but that wasn't my experience. Checked out and was shopping in the BC gift shop / marketplace waiting for the car service to arrive. I was shopping for DP snacks to take on the plane - but mostly just to use up our 8 remaining snack credits.

After spending 15 minutes making careful selections I was told by the CM that my credits were no longer available. Tried another card - same thing. Went to the front desk and she said that it was b/c i checked out already - ?????? She was looking into when DH appeared at the desk...

Our driver was here and we had to go. DH was not about to let me miss our flight due to unused snack credits, so I had to leave without solving this issue. But I left my beloved WDW on a bad note - . We will be back in Nov and I will not let the same thing happen again.

The moral of the story is: Don't wait until the last minute to use up remaining credits - or you might lose them!

I used all my 7 snacks, and 5 remaining lunch credits yesterday at 3:00p.m. Magical express was @ 4. I had checked out at 11a.m. So, it can be done.

This is not the way it is supposed to work. Your Keys to the WOrld Card are good until midnight on day of checkout. I think there was a problem with your cards.

I had pretty much determined the reason I could not use my remaining credits was due to a glitch in the system - it was just that I did not find out about it in time to have it fixed before we left.

I did not mean to imply that this was the way the system works. Just wanted to point out that that it "could happen" - so don't wait to the last minute like I did.
