my official closing date according to the closing company was Friday 4/4.
does this mean, as soon as MS confirms that my info is in the system, i can borrow points to make a ressie?

i know i can make ressies about 1 week after closing, but i was reading something about that you can only make ressies using the points as they are. i.e., you can't perform any banking or borrowing transactions until you're truly officially closed (i.e. deed recorded).

so, does this mean that i have to wait until my deed has actually been recorded by Orange County before i can borrow points?

what about if i wanted to rent points from another member and have them transfer points into my account? do i also need to wait until the official deed recording?

I was able to make a reservation and borrow a few from the next year BEFORE I closed, so you should be okay now.

Can't help on the transferring from another member's points though. :)

Welcome Home!

I made ressies before I closed too. Just couldn't wait! We picked out the dates on the ride home!:Pinkbounc

i would like to know to, can you make ressies for any other place besides disney, like the disney cruise, conc. collection, passport coll. after you close but before the deed is finale? and about the transfer of points from another dvc ?

If you buy direct from Disney, you can make reservations before closing. If you buy a resale, you have to wait until after closing to make a reservation.

yes, i bought mine through disney, but you can make ressies outside of disney before the deed is finale? what about transfer of points from someone else into my account?:)

We bought resale and were able to make reservations, etc within a day or two.....sometime before the official "closing".

Good Luck!

yes, i bought a resale. guess i should've specified that in my OP.

that's why i referred to the "closing date" that the closing company gave me.

so is that not really my true closing date?

i guess i'm wondering which closing date Disney uses to determine whether you can do such things as banking, borrowing, transferring, etc.

is it the "closing date" that is when the resale closing company says that all documents have been received, and deed is on its way to the county for recording, and buyers' monies have been dispersed? 'cause then that would be last Friday for me.

or is the true closing date much later, when the deed has actually finished being recorded in Orange County?

As far as a DVC transaction (reservation, banking, borrowing), you can accomplish any/all as soon as you are entered in the DVC computer. This is usually after closing and recording of the deed and normally takes plave within a week of the date suggested by the closing company.

Enjoy!
