How long after closing can you hang in the parks?

I'm headed to DL w/ a friend basically just to have fun and take pics! I see lots of pics from folks where the park looks completely empty.

So how long have you ever stayed? Do the CM's heard you out at a certain point?

anyone that is in line when the park closes gets to ride the ride they are on, and the shops are open past closing time. I would guess you could probably get 45 minutes to an hour after closing time.

I started getting shuffled to the door/asked to leave ~60 minutes after close.

DL stores on Main St stay open for 1 hour past park closing, and if it's really busy, sometimes later than that. The DL CMs are great about letting you stay late for photo ops. I've been there past 1am when the park closed at 12midnight with no problems. DL ropes off the attractions but not the actual lands. I've never been asked to leave by CMs or security at DL, just by my family who were over it!

I think WDWFigment is the king of this.... I'm sure he'll fill you in on the ins and outs of staying as late as possible. I love reading his trip reports hearing about being the last one out of the Magic Kingdom on repeated occasions.

I made it until 1:20 on an EMH night in the MK.... only 20 minutes past closing. Nothing remarkable, unless you know me! Even then my daughter and husband had to drag me begrudgingly out out the front gates..... (that was on a trip with only that one day at the park.....)

Unless the particular park is closing fairly early, two hours is really pushing it, in my opinion. It depends on the weather, how quickly other guests clear, and how late the park is open that night. From my experience, you can usually stay latest in EPCOT. The times vary anywhere between 45 minutes to 2.5 hours, depending on those variables. I think the latest we've stayed is about 2 hours, give or take.

^^^ I thought the OP was asking about Disneyland? It's a little different at WDW. I've never been asked to leave DL by anyone other than my family and you have mentioned in a couple of your TRs about security asking you to leave the various parks at WDW, right?
Edit: Then again, I've never stayed more than one hour and 10 minutes or so past park closing. My DH & DS would not tolerate staying 2 hours past park closing anywhere!

Yep we're going to DL (quick cheap trip).

I figured it would be about the same policy so I'll just start from the back for my photos and work my way to the front as long as I can!

I've been in an hour and a half past. Or about that. By accident. Got in line with some friends for Nemo the September after it had opened pretty much at closing, since it was the shortest line we had seen for it. By the time we got on, rode, and got off it had been 45 minutes or so, then we just walked super slow. We did have an obstinate CM standing in front of the castle ruining our shots of it all lit up with the carousel visible through the door, didn't move even when asked nicely, so we took pictures with him one by one. After finally leaving the best part was the 4 of us sat smack in the middle of the compass looking thing in the esplanade.... the completely empty except for us esplanade.

We stayed an extra hour and a half after the last MNSSHP we were at in Sept. Of course we were well rested and had a ton o' fun slowly creeping out of the park!

Last summer after Epcot EMH my son stayed about 2 hours past closing. He and some friends were just walking and talking during their last nite. He walked them to the future world entrance, but we were staying at Boardwalk. He wound up with an escort to the International gateway because he waas the last person in the park. He said it was the best night of his trip.
