We are trying for our first and I am also planning an Aug trip to WDW with my sister. I know the cruise line says that you can't sail past your sixth month.

When do doctors typically not want you flying to another state when pregnant? I had a friend who was 5 months preg. and her doctor said no to a trip.

If you have traveled to WDW while pregnant, when did you go and feel it was just too much while pregnant. Thanks!

I'm almost seven weeks and planning a trip to San Diego and DL in April (I'll be about 5.5 months, so I'm curious as well!) I haven't talked to my Dr. yet, I thought you could fly up to the third trimester.

Your doctor will give you the best answer based on how your pregnancy is progressing. Most airlines won't let you travel after 8 months. When I was in my last trimester, my doctor didn't want me to get more than an hour from the hospital. One time I went about 2 hours from home for the weekend and she sent copies of my medical records with me.

I forgot to mention that I took a vacation in March - flying and doing lots of sightseeing - and my son was born in July. I guess I was right at the tipping point, but my doctor approved it.

I think it will really depend on how your pregnancy is, if anything unexpected comes up along the way, and ultimately, your doctor will know best. I travelled in July and had the baby at the end of Sept. I was very pregnant, it was very hot, but we still had a wonderful time. I would do it again in a heartbeat. My doctor just said to drink a lot of water and to make sure I took some time out to sit and keep an eye on my feet swelling. Have a wonderful time!!!!!:santa:

Thanks for the advice! I have a good friend who is a nurse at the Celebration hospital, so if I needed any medical help I know I would be in good hands!

call your insurance company first. I travelled cross country by car when I was 8 months pregnant with my first. I did it knowing that if for some reason I went into labor while out of the area my insurance would pay NOTHING on the delivery! It was a risk I only took once.

Make sure that if you book now you get trip insurance so that if you do get pregnant and have to cancel you can get your money back.

I flew in mid October, and I had DS on Dec. 1. No problems, and nobody hassled me.

I went to WDW 32 weeks pregnant with my 1st. This was Febuary. DD was born the end of March, right on her due date.

I also went o Verobeach at 27 weeks. That was a bit easier of a time (espeically with a 3 year old also.)

I also went 8 weeks pregnant, that wasn't planned. It worked out ok, I had a lot of MS (really all day) before and after the trip, but felt rather good at WDW. :) We flew from MI each time.

I don't think I would enjoy it as much during a very hot and raining time like summer.

We went down in early march when i was about 3.5-4 months pregnant with #3 I don't think i could have went when i was really pregnant just b/c of all the walking, and keeping up with 2 young kids! LOL

I went to disney at 6.5 - 7 mths pregnant with my third and it was August (HOT!) but had a fantastic trip. Drank lots of water and tried to put my feet up when possible to reduce some of the swelling. We drove down from NJ so doctor's orders were to stop and walk every 2 hours to reduce the risk of blood clots.

That said, I don't think I would have done a trip this late in my pregnancy with my first child. I realize that every pregnancy is different and complications could arise at any time, but I felt safer knowing that I had already had two safe and uncomplicated pregnancys before. I was much more nervous the first time around, plus I kind of knew how I would be feeling in that third trimester by the third kid.

Our trip was 2-1/2 weeks and the return car ride home was much worse than the trip down. The 2 1/2 week difference made me start feeling much more miserable. So I definitely would not have wanted to go any later than we did.

Your doctor should be able to give you some guidelines to follow and will know if you are high risk or not. Definitely check with your insurance company and be sure to look into trip insurance.

Good luck with your decision!

I went to WDW when I was 35 weeks pregnant with my second dd. It was the end of April/beginning of May and I was fine. Hot, but no problems keeping up. I am pretty sure that the airlines prefer no more than 36 weeks along, but I was huge and no one said anything to me. My midwife was fine with the trip.

I was 14 weeks along in May and have always been told by my OB/Gyn colleagues that you should not fly beyond 28 weeks. I am a neonatologist - you need to keep in mind that premature babies at 23 weeks and beyone are treated and survive in NICUs - if you went into labor and had a baby away from your home, would you be ok with your baby being cared for in a hospital in Orlando? Most places will not transfer a baby until completely stable which might not be until close to your due date, and most premature babies are not discharged until they would have been 34-35 weeks in utero. Also, the insurance comment is a good one - your insurance may not cover the care at a hospital outside of your network at all and NICU care is not cheap in any way! I have seen my share of babies born to mothers who were on a trip and just never thought that they would deliver prematurely (you never plan for something like that)!

My doctor ok'd for me to go for the 4th of July and DS was born mid September. We tried to move our trip back 1 week and he said no to that. The 4th was our last travel week. :goodvibes

I went when I was pregnant with DD...I was due on April 1st and we were in the World for Valentines Day...the doctors had no problems with me flying or traveling...just gave me my medical records just in case. I am sure going is a case by case basis.

I went to WDW when 18w pregnant with our second - no problems, it was just too hot for all of us!

Then I went to Las Vegas on a business trip (took DH along - I didn't want to travel alone that late) when I was about 28w pregnant. Had a great time, no problems keeping up (with regular breaks).

If you are having a regular pregancy, seems like a bunch of overwrought thinking to me.

My OB had no problem with me flying at 32 weeks.

I went at 32 weeks and had a great time with absolutely no problems (early September and DD was born 11/1). I did take a copy of my medical records with me just in case.

I will be about 24 weeks when we go in February, and I can't wait. This is my second, and I am just 3 days out of morning sickness (knock on wood). If you do all of the things you know you should do (water, rest), I don't see the problem. I can't wait!

With my first the last trip we took by air (which was to Florida, though not Disney) was right before Christmas and my daughter was born on 2/26 (though due 3/12 if it makes any difference timewise for you). So just about 2 months before she was born.

My son was pretty much the same, we flew to visit my in-laws around Memorial Day and he was born August 4th. We did make several trips to NJ in June and July and a trip to Sesame Place where I went on several rides (though no water slides!) on July 17th. The thing is though, he was due 8/29 and was born at 36 weeks, so it wasn't like I was due 2 weeks after the Sesame Place trip. Sesame Place was about 2.5 hours away (by car) and NJ is 4-6 hours depending on traffic.

And about not thinking about preterm births with a normal pregnancy, both of my pregnancies were totally normal but my son was preterm. My water broke at 36 weeks with no apparent cause and I just had an ultrasound the week before to measure him (we suspected he was large) and everything looked fine. He was okay, but did have to stay in the hospital an extra day and then was thisclose to being readmitted once we took him home cause his jaundice was so bad as a result of being preterm and huge (he was 8 lbs. 4 oz. so his 36 week liver just couldn't handle his 40+ week size). So while I never thought I'd have him that early (in fact, I was thinking about another Sesame Place trip the weekend he was born!) cause my pregnancy was uneventful and my daughter was term, albeit 15 days early, I did, so with the next baby I'll definitely think twice befor going anywhere past about 32-34 weeks.
