How late can I book?

Hi! First, I want to say that a friend linked me to this site a few days ago, and I've been overwhelmed with what a great site this is and how much information you all share. I am a west-coastie, have never been to WDW before, and felt completely lost in planning. I found the answers to most of my nagging questions, plus info on things I hadn't even thought of. You guys are great.

What I'm wondering is how late you guys think I can book a trip for early Dec. or maybe early Jan. and have some chance of connecting rooms at one of the AS resorts. I'm aiming for the value season, so in theory it should be more open than other times, but I'm a little anxious. My husband is deployed to Iraq for a year as a contractor (flying out today) and we want to visit WDW when he is able to come "home" on leave. Only problem is that it will be some time before we are able to have firm dates for booking. We will be a family of four for the trip so we could live with one room, but since it will have been seven months since we saw each other we'd really like to have a door between us and the kids for some alone time.

Also...is there a key to abbreviations anywhere? I'm a little lost sometimes trying to figure out what you guys are talking about. :confused3

You can book a room only and deposit is only 1 nights stay. If you call and book you can cancel up until before 5 days prior to the first day of stay. All you can do is request the connecting room or even book a suite in the values. The price is not that much different than 2 rooms but you will also have a small firg and I think a microwave, but guaranteed to be connecting. Not sure if a Key is out there. I kind have figured out some of it by just reading different posts. Sorry I can't help that much with a key.
