How late can I add extra park tickets?

If I buy 4 day tickets and want to add an extra day (or 3!) when's the last day I can do it? Also if I add an extra day and then wanted to add another day after that could I or is it a one time thing?

The last day you can upgrade the tickets to add additional days is on their last valid day of use - so if you have 4-day tickets, you need to add more days by the end of the 4th park day. If you add a 5th day and then decide you also want to add a 6th, you need to add it by the end of day 5.

Note: Upgrading tickets doesn't extend their total 14-day window of validity from the first use, nor can you add additional days past 10.

Ok thanks good to know! We arrive at 8:00am after flying overnight - right now we are planning on it being a park day but if we are delayed or too tired I may make it a Downtown Disney/pool day so if I thought I may as well wait to see before buying extra days. Also our last day will be a resort day because we are switching to a deluxe but I thought it might be nice to just go for a few hours in the evening. I like to keep my options open ;)

Do I just go to guest services at the park - can I do it at the resort? Is there any additional cost or is it the same as if I bought that number of days originally?

A resort concierge should have no problem upgrading tickets. You can also do it at a regular park ticket window, you don't need to go to guest relations. (Although you can if you want.)

You only pay the difference between your existing ticket and the ticket you want to upgrade to, so it should be no more than if you had bought the longer ticket originally. (If you got your tickets at a discount, make sure to use them before upgrading, but it sounds like you'll be doing that anyway.)

It's also Disney policy that a resort guest can add a day of tickets on their check-out day even if they've used all their days up already, but a lot of CMs don't remember that from training.

That's close to the policy.

It is actually "a resort guest can upgrade tickets (as many days as they want to add, up to 10, total, for the ticket) even if they've used all their days up already."

During our trip earlier this month they were actually advertising that you can add days to your ticket up to they expire or 14 days from first use. The ad played on the monorail over and over.

I am not a bit surprised at this.
That was the way it was for years and years.

Then, about three years ago, they started to disallow guests to upgrade stand-alone tickets
any day after the day that the last asset had been used.
That idea was to attempt to stop the unlawful re-sale (transfer) of used tickets.

Even during those times, guests staying at a WDW resort whose tickets had their
name printed on them (by Disney) were allowed to upgrade a fully-used-up ticket
as Disney could keep track of if that ticket was being used by the original owner.

But, NOW with nearly everyone linking their tickets to an MDE account,
an account that connects to a specific individual, it makes sense that they
can allow upgrading fully-used-up tickets under most any circumstance as Disney can keep
track of if that ticket is being used by the original owner.
