We are definitely overdue for an update!
First, I want to profusely thank Abbybeth, Abby's Dad, and Lynnielou for the awesome gifts they sent to the boys. Abby made three quilts that absolutely blow us away, they are amazingly well made and really adorable.. I'm sure the boys are going to love them! They were accompanied by three sock monkeys and a great handmade card. Everything has a monkey theme, which is appropriate as I'm sure they will be our three little monkeys.
Fred, Lynn & Abby..
THANK YOU! We truly cherish your friendship and hope that someday you can meet the boys in person.
Second, I want to thank everyone for your congratulations. I don't have time to respond individually, but we have both read them all and they mean a great deal to us!
Now for babies updates!
When I posted the night of delivery, I said they would probably be coming home with mom, but that was jumping the gun. I brought Lease home five days after, but the boys have needed extra time in the nursery. It is a mixed blessing, though, as Lease was not in any shape to be up and around right when she got home. She has been recovering well, though, and has pretty good mobility now as long as she isn't on her feet too much at a time.
As I posted before, Andrew and Parker started in Lease's hospital room but ended up in the nursery with Nick the night they were born. Andrew and Nick were in isolettes for several days to help them regulate their temperature, and all three had sugar IVs, but by the time Lease came home, all three were in open air cribs and their IVs were out.
Since then, they have just been gaining strength and learning to feed & breathe at the same time. At first, all three would run out of energy and fall asleep very shortly into their bottles and have to be given the rest by feeding tube, but each day brought progress, and in the last two days they have all three been taking all/most of their bottles. Nick, who has been a bit behind his brothers, has made great strides in catching up in the past two days, which makes us very happy. The nurses talk about "turning the corner" before they can come home, and it really feels like they are starting to.
