How is Whispering Canyon Café?

it is SO loud here. We went once and all left with pounding headaches. We were there at dinner - food was 'eh'. Environment, so not for me!

That's what I'm concerned about.:scared: We have ressies for WCC during our upcoming trip in Feb. I am seriously considering cancelling as I think it will be too loud and abnoxious especially after long, loud days at the parks. We are a fairly quiet family-not afraid of having fun-but don't like people in my face.

I've really enjoyed it both times I've been there for lunch - love the trout! :lovestruc

When you arrive at WCC ask to be seated in the quiet area. The quiet area is off the lobby and very nicely decorated with mission furniture. We always enjoyed it.

We had the skillet. The meat was fatty and gristly and the corn on the cob tasted frozen. I was very disappointed because I love bbq.

last year, after a very full day in the parks, we had an ADR at Kona, but we just could not bring ourselves to go to the Poly and then back to WLV where we were staying, so we took a chance to see is they could squeeze us in last minute, and they did.
It was a pleasant surprise, the atmosphere perked us up, our waitress was great, and my kids loved the bottomless shakes.
I love, love, love the salad and corn bread here, the skillet was fine, there were things i loved and some not so much, but there was plenty to eat.
It is a loud rambunctious place, if you love people watching, and chaos, you will enjoy it here.
the smores cheesecake is good, but next time it will be caramel apple pie for me, yes there will definitly be a next time for us

We enjoyed lunch and breakfast there. We were a party of 7 and did not have any problems being seated without reservations either time. We enjoyed the entertainment. The kids had a great time, especially passing the ketchup along with the two husbands and kids galloping around the restaurant with the horse sticks. Kids were entertained throughout each meal which was nice so the adults could enjoy our meals.

The atmosphere is great and fun. The skillet was good. If your boyfriend loves really good BBQ then he might be disappointed. I wouldn't say that it is bad BBQ, but it isn't what you would expect from a great BBQ restaurant. Remember most people go for the fun and the atmosphere. By the way, I did actually finish 2 skillets myself. I was hurting later but the server didn't think that I couldn't do it.

For some reason, this restaurant gets a lot of mixed reviews. Being from Texas, we appreciate good BBQ. We LOVED it!! We also had an awesome waiter! He was so good with the kids. A year and a half later, they are STILL talking about this place. Highly recommended! :thumbsup2

The food has become atrocious the past few years. It used to be pretty tasty. Eaten there 5 times (the last few reluctantly but I have been outvoted) and have NEVER had a fun, interactive server. I will never forget the time my oldest, aged 5 at the time, asked - with big shining eyes - for ketchup from our server after witnessing multiple ketchup antics, crayon exchanging and giant glasses come out for the people around us, our server, a grumpy middle-aged guy set a bottle of ketchup without a word. Really deflated my kid. The next time we got a young waiter, another guy, who said as he was taking our drink order, "I will tell you upfront that I don't do the antics. Sorry."

This trip we want to visit WL because it is so beautiful during the holidays, but not even the promise of stick pony races could convince my older boys that this place was worth our time (Whew! I might never have to eat there again!).

A quiet area -- soundproofing -- carpet on the ceiling -- ear plugs -- would all help this restaurant.

We thought it was really gross....the meats were so fatty and greasy they were very unappetizing. Our soup had a huge bone in it. Our server was nonexistant and there were no fun and games going on at all.

We've always enjoy it there and visited a few times over the last 4 years. We love the all-you-can-eat-skillet. Meats are great so is the barbecue sauce. Never had trouble with service either.

we go every trip-- we love it ---- the food is great and it is a fun relaxed placce to eat -- teh kids can have fun on the horses and such--- we love it--- DS loves the refillable milk shakes :) he i s bottom less pit as all 13 yr old boys are supposed to be , right???! lolol!

Ah-The proverbial "Soup Bone"!!! YUM! I hope we have a good dinner there in Nov.;don't want greasy food though!:scared1:

This was our experience too. The food was disgusting, service was non-existent...two hours for just the two of us with the skillet and we never even bothered with dessert.

We love WCC and will be there for 2 meals on our next trip. We have been there with a group and just me and DH and enjoyed both experiences. Yes, it is loud but it's fun. It's also great to check out WL and easy to get to from MK. Enjoy!

We ate there last week and really enjoyed it! It is loud, so if you're expecting a quiet dinner, you might want to skip it. Our daughter really got into the antics and our food was great. Will definitely try to go there on our next Disney trip.

In terms of the same type of homestyle food you'd have a better time at Hoop de doo revue; in terms of quality and value Trail's End would be a good choice.

My husband and I ate at WCC years ago before we had kids. We were staying on property and a CM at the dining reservations phone center (this was in 2000) recommended it. They really should have recommended something quieter for a couple; we weren't "in on the joke" by the way - just thought our server was rude, lol. It was fine for kids but we found it too loud and didn't like the "all you can eat ribs & BBQ skillet" which they still serve. We went there because we wanted to see that resort. We should have gone to Artist Point or skipped that resort. I probably won't go out of my way to go there again.

Awww, your story is kind of sad. Seems like anybody who works there should "do the antics" as part of the theming... otherwise why don't they just go work at a Denny's?

We are in the "never going back" group. It was horrible. Got a beautiful table right next to the railing for the lobby. That was the only good thing.

We didn't like the food. The different milkshakes weren't very good. They are just sickeningly sweet. The food itself just isn't anything special at all.

Then, our server spent so much time hamming it up with the table next to us, we never got service at all. He took our order. Nothing ever showed up. I finally went and found him and asked if we might at least have our drinks. Those were the only things he ever brought out to us. Another waiter took pity and brought our food, which wasn't even good. My son wanted to try another type of milkshake, since he didn't like his. I had to go hunt someone down for that. We never got our bill. We never got a 2nd helping of anything.

We tried. Our son asked for ketchup from our waiter as he was heading over to another table, and he just looked at him and chuckled. Didn't even bother.

In the end, the hostess didn't make us pay, which was super nice of her and not something I asked for. So, she made up for it, but I won't try it again.
